"Top Six Ways to Kill Piper" Video Made by Middle School Girls About Their Classmate Piper Smith
I first heard about a cartoon video surfacing online titled "Top Six Ways to Kill Piper" on MSNBC late last week and I was very appalled to learn this was in fact made by girls ages 11 and 12. Beth Smith, Piper's mother, said that she was horrified to learn of the video, which included depictions of girls shooting her daughter, making Piper commit suicide, poisoning her and pushing her off a cliff. Sick. Really sick. These girls are young thugs in the making. They need to be reined in before they turn teenage bullies. A slap on the wrist for this disturbing video is certainly not what they deserve. They should be suspended form school for several weeks and forced to go to summer school to make up the lessons and assignments they have missed.
Beth Smith told KING5-TV that the cartoon was set to a Hannah Montana song called "True Friend" and was posted on YouTube. Piper attends Elk Plain School of Choice in Spanaway, Wash., as do the girls who made the video. The little girl says it hurt her feelings. Because of privacy rules, the Bethel School District says it can't say how the girls were disciplined. A report was also filed with the sheriff's department. I hope their punishment included suspension. I cannot believe that kids would conceive such a horrific video about another child. What is going on with some of our children?
