Cynthia McKinney Remains Imprisoned in Israel After Gaza-Bound Boat Is Seized

Cynthia McKinney was one politician who just got on my nerves as soon as she opened her mouth. The former U.S. lawmaker and Green Party presidential candidate may have just picked a fight with the wrong country. McKinney, along with several other human rights activists remain in an Israeli prison today after refusing to sign a deportation form they claim is self-incriminating. I understand her need to reach out and help people, but there are thousands, if not millions of people, in the United States, Africa and dare I say, Haiti, who would be better served by her assistance. There is more to her wandering all over Israel and the Gaza Strip than just meets the eye. As far as I am concerned, Cynthia McKinney isn't an activist, she's an instigator, who thinks it's all about her. Sorry Cynthia, too bad folks are crying "free Cynthia." Many are saying "good riddance."
In a press release from the Green Party, McKinney said the form states that the Spirit of Humanity, a Greek-flagged relief boat carrying 21 activists, medical supplies, cement, olive trees and children's toys en route to Gaza, was violating the Israeli blockade and trespassing the country's territorial waters.

"We were in international waters on a boat delivering humanitarian aid to people in Gaza when the Israeli Navy ships surrounded us and illegally threatened us, dismantled our navigation equipment, boarded and confiscated the ship," she said in a statement, adding that they were immediately taken into custody. "Immigration officials in Israel said they did not want to keep us, but we remain imprisoned," she said. The Israeli military issued a statement Tuesday saying that the boat had attempted to break a blockade of Gaza and was forced to sail to an Israeli port after ignoring a radio message to stay out of waters around Gaza. The problem for Ms. McKinney is that most Americans don't give a heck about her and her crusade, given her track record. She's the last person the State Department and White House need to be concerned with. This isn't the first time she has had problems in Israel, which leads me to believe that her actions are deliberate and she should sit in prison in Israel for a while. I hope she realizes that most people here aren't exactly sounding the alarm over her plight. No one is screaming "free Cynthia McKinney," especially people in her native state of Georgia.
