Zeituni Onyango, Barack Obama's Aunt Living Illegally in the USA, Dirty Trick by Right Wing

The right wing has deliberately attempted to smear Barack Obama once again and just 72 hours from a historic presidential election. Apparently they thought they would score a major upset by disclosing that Barack Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, is living in the United States illegally. Obama said that he was unaware of her immigration status. That is entirely plausible. My parents and I migrated from Jamaica legally eons ago. I am from a large family. I have cousins who are living here in the United States and I have no idea what their immigration status is. Some of these cousins are distant relatives and others are first and second cousins who I have not seen in many years. So, Barack Obama does not have to know this woman's immigration status, especially if she isn't someone he has a close relationship with.

According to Politico. com, Obama last heard from Ms. Onyango, who attended his swearing-in ceremony to the U.S. Senate in 2005 and is a half-sister of Obama's late father, two years ago, when she called to say she was in Boston. Campaign officials said they did not assist her in getting a tourist visa and had not known that she was living in America. Hello, people, it is obvious that Obama does not have a close relationship with this woman. Right wing, nice try, but you came up empty again. I have to question the timing of this leak. The problem is, this is the least of many Americans' problem. Take a look at the financial mess the country has found itself in and at the hands of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers has written to Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff requesting an immediate investigation of the leak, which he deemed "deplorable" and said "was not the first leak of law enforcement information apparently designed to influence the coming presidential election," referring to an ongoing investigation of voter fraud by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN.

Obama met Onyango, 56, when he traveled to Africa as an adult, and she earned a mention in his 1995 memoir "Dreams From My Father," in which he referred to her as "Auntie Zeituni."

The Associated Press reported that Onyango had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. Onyango is living in public housing in Boston. Funny, if ICE knew about this all along, how come they have now decided to pursue this woman and how did this become such a news item 72 hours from the election? Yeah, another dirty trick from the right wing, but from the poll results of Gallup, Barack Obama is heading for the White House.

Let me just also add, that Dick Cheney's endorsement of John McCain is a slap in his face. Dick Cheney is a part of the Washington establishment that has literally facilitated the quagmire the country is now in. This is just more ammunition for Obama to use to show the link between McCain and President George Bush. Thanks. That is indeed a gold nugget.
