MSNBC's Martin Bashir Says Sarah Palin "Represents the Very Worst Form of American Opportunism: Vacuous, Crass"

MSNBC's Martin Bashir compares Sarah Palin's exit to Apple Founder Steve Jobs, saying she "represents the worst form of American opportunism: vacuous, crass," as well as not having created anything over the last three years.

MSNBC's Martin Bashir lit into Sarah Palin in a way that was nothing short of amazing, saying [Sarah Palin] "represents the very worst form of American opportunism: vacuous, crass and according to every biographer, vindictive, too." He said, over the last three years "she created nothing, produced nothing, and served no one but herself.” Dang. He just eviscerated Sarah Palin, but that's so above her threshold to comprehend. Bashir's comments also comes on the heels of GOP presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman slamming Sarah Palin for stringing people along with her so-called 2012 presidential aspiration. Um, I knew Sarah Palin wasn't going to run. She's just in it to make money.

New Tell-All Book Claims Sarah Palin Had One Night Stand with Black Former NBA Player Glen Rice & Snorted Cocaine Off Oil Drum

Joe McGinniss' upcoming tell-all book about Sarah Palin claims she had one night stand with black former NBA star Glen Rice, snorted cocaine off an oil drum and had six month extramarital affair with Todd Palin's former business partner, Brad Henson.

We have never professed to care much for the self-perceived "president-in-waiting" Sarah Palin and naturally, we tend to ignore her statements on Fox News, but it is rather interesting that reports of an alleged affair has been disclosed. Sounds fishy to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Sarah Palin, but why now? So, let me backtrack a bit..... Joe McGinniss, has written a book, "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin," that's due to be published on September 20, in which he alleges Mrs. Palin, 47, had a one night stand with black former NBA star, Glen Rice and a six month affair with Brad Henson, her husband, Todd Palin's former business partnet.

McGinniss alleges that she isn't the traditional family woman she claims to be. Um, we all knew that, considering Bristol Palin got pregnant while she was touting abstinence. Add her son Track to that mix, who had a shotgun wedding after his then-girlfriend got pregnant. So, it's safe to say, we all know Sarah Palin is one big fraud. Still, why publish the book now? Isn't the intent to torpedo any chances of her running for the presidency in 2012, or the ruin her reputation, primarily for monetary gain? Where was Mr. McGinniss in 2008? The most damning allegation is that she allegedly "snorted cocaine off a 55 gallon oil drum while snowmobiling with friends," as he claims. I guess Sarah Palin needs to listen to the lyrics of Shaggy's song, "It Wasn't Me."

Mrs Palin, 47, had a one-night stand with Miami Heat basketball star Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband, the book claims. She is said to have met the 6ft 8ins player in 1987 when he was playing in a college basketball tournament in Alaska and she worked as a sports reporter for KTUU television. It is also claimed that she had a six month affair with Brad Hanson, who ran a snowmobile dealership with her husband Todd - a betrayal which led to Todd dissolving their business.

In revelations which could strike a devastating blow to the controversial politician's hopes of joining the 2012 presidential race, Mrs Palin is said to have taken the class A drug with her husband, while smoking marijuana at college in secret liaisons with one of her professors. She allegedly had a tryst with basketball star Glen Rice in her younger sister Molly's University of Alaska dorm room, while she was dating Todd and just nine months before the couple were married. Personally, I hate when people publish books of this nature because it isn't so much about doing the right thing, but about making money, lots of money. For what it's worth, this isn't a book I will run out to buy, nor would I take a free copy from the publisher, as I have done on many occasions to review books. It's pure garbage. Yes, we know Sarah Palin is a hypocrite and was not even worthy to have served as the governor of Alaska, much less as the president of the U.S.A., but ripping to shreds the little bit of dignity she has left for the sake of money isn't right.

I am surprised we haven't heard peep from the Palin camp, considering she loves taking to Facebook, Twitter and Fox News to vent about perceived slights against her and her family. She's uncharacteristically very quiet on the revelation. Whether the allegations are true or not, she isn't going to run for the presidency, so I guess it really doesn't affect her had it been directed towards Mitt Romney, Gov. Rick Perry or even President Barack Obama. On a lighter note, many have said Sarah Palin has been largely aloof and cool towards the black community, well, if the allegations are true about her one night stand with Glen Rice, we can't make that argument anymore, can we? Just saying, Sarah, tell them, "it wasn't me!"

Jeremy Olson Throws Tomatoes at Sarah Palin During her Appearance at Mall of America, Misses & Hits Police Officers Instead

I visited Chicago Now's Message from Montie blog and I was surprised to see that Sarah Palin almost found herself in the middle of another controversy. But I must say, luck was on her side during her appearance at the Mall of America in Minnesota for her book signing. You see, Bloomington police said Jeremy Paul Olson, AKA Jeremiah Wobbe, threw a tomato near her, but he missed. Instead, two officers were hit by tomato fragments instead. Olson was arrested and was booked on assault and disorderly conduct charges.

According to WCCO, people on the second level balcony, where the tomato was thrown from, helped police apprehend Olson. He came ready for action because officers said when they arrested him, they found two more tomatoes. I hate to say it, but I was kind of hoping she would have gotten tomatoed, like Ann Coulter got pied in the face.

Palin was at the mall signing copies of her book, "Going Rogue," for four hours Monday. In classic Sarah Palin style, she did not address the crowd, but did speak individually to owners of the books she signed. You see, she is far from being the average Joe she claims to be, flying in a private jet instead of riding on her tour bus all the way.

Former Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey is the Instigator Behind the Right Wing Firestorm Over Fictitious "Death Panels" in Health Care Reform

If former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is getting her talking points from former New York Lt. governor Betsy McCaughey about the fictitious health care "death panels," then she is far dumber than I thought. New Yorkers will remember McCaughey most for oddly standing throughout Gov. George Pataki's 1996 State of the State speech - then running against him after he dumped her from his ticket. This is the last person who the public needs to take serious. Betsy McCaughey is in this dogfight just for the monetary gains. Where has she been all these years since Pataki kicked her off his ticket? I can't recall seeing her leading the charge for any type of health care reform in New York state and dare I say, the country.

McCaughey, 60, is back and proclaiming herself as a self-styled expert whose writings on Obama's health care plans. The problem is that many other Republicans are echoing her sentiments and they are patently wrong. Even the AARP Executive Vice President John Rother has said "Betsy McCaughey's recent commentary on health care reform in various media outlets is rife with gross - and even cruel - distortions." Still the Republicans continue to lend credence to this lie.

"I believe it's an important public service," McCaughey said yesterday of her commentaries, which spin snippets of legislative language and medical-journal essays by a few Obama advisers to paint a terrifying picture.

"Members of Congress haven't been reading this bill, and I think that's shameful," she added. Others say what's shameful is McCaughey's distortions of the Democratic-backed House bill, specifically a section on "end-of-life" consultations that Palin -in a Facebook screed - dubbed "Obama's 'death panel." The truth is that the bill section simply aims to provide Medicare coverage for once-every-five-year conversations with doctors over what life-prolonging measures, if any, a patient wants taken in the event of a terminal illness or injury. Hello people, this idea was first championed by a conservative Republican senator, Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), who seems to be distancing himself from even that fact. McCaughey didn't bother to do her research, she just ran with this lie, providing back-up for Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Chuck Grassley and others, by sounding the "death panel" alarm.

McCaughey got the ball rolling on former senator Fred Thompson's radio show on July 16, when she called the bill "a vicious assault on elderly people" that will "cut your life short." She then wrote a column July 24 that claimed Obama advisers don't want to "give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy."

Sorry, but it seems to me that Ms. McCaughey, who was formerly married to billionaire Wilbur Ross, only motivation in this matter is money. According to the NY Daily News, she has collected some $23,600 per year in board fees and options from a drugmaking company, Genta Inc., although she resigned in 2007. She remains on the board of medical equipment company Cantel Medical Group, pulling in $30,000 in fees yearly.

Pat Buchanan Says "Todd Palin Ought to Take Levi Johnston Down to the Creek and Hold his Head Underwater until the Thrashing Stops"

I am neither a fan of MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan nor Levi Johnston, but Mr. Buchanan clearly crossed the line with his comments during his appearance on "Morning Joe" earlier today. He said "Todd Palin ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops." Isn't this the same guy who hammered David Letterman for his comments about Sarah Palin and her daughter? Isn't this the same man who is staunchly pro-life?

Buchanan is a strong supporter of Sarah Palin and was upset with Levi Johnston's recent criticism of Sarah Palin, including his appearance on the "Today Show" this morning in which he said Palin, in part, resigned the governorship of Alaska in order to make more money. Buchanan advice to the Palins on how to deal with ad some harsh advice for the Palin family on how to deal with Levi:

Well, first, with regard to Levi, I think First Dude up there in Alaska, Todd Palin, ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops.

The whole "Morning Joe" gang, including Mika Brzezinski, laughed pretty at Buchanan's joke, while Mark Halprin added, "That's a reality show, right there." It is amazing that Pat Buchanan continues to appear on MSNBC despite his racist stance on many issues. He owes Levi Johnston an apology. Just as he demanded of David Letterman to Sarah Palin. It seems that the mainstream media is playing the role of a bottom feeder in its inexplicable fascination with Levi Johnston. He hasn't accomplished one thing positive in his life, except perhaps his child, and he's suddenly making media rounds. What gives?

Dick Cheney Says He'll Take Limbaugh over Powell

With all this in fighting and bickering going on within the Republican Party, there has to be an outcome of something new. The party will have to emerge as a newly reformed, reborn party. The name-calling, the finger pointing, all the apologizes have to amount to something.

I think a lot of this is being done so that the party can stay in the media and in the minds of Americans while it rebuilds. If it were not for the arguing and in fighting, nothing is coming from the Republican party at all. Not unless you count the publicity Sarah Palin continues to get from time to time.

The latest in-house fighting amongst the Republican Party is former Vice President Dick Cheney saying he would take Rush Limbugh over Colin Powell any day. Come on Dick. I mean really? Rush is an entertainer. Had it not been for the Republican Michael Steele making a public apology to Rush, Rush would be a loner out there continuing to look for a fish to hook.

Everything he attempted in this last presidential election failed miserably. First within his own party he spoke out diligently against John McCain. When McCain won the nomination, of course he had to jump on the bandwagon and go along with McCain. When Obama became the forerunner of the Democratic Party's nomination, after years and years of bashing Hilary Clinton and the Clinton Administration, Limbugh begins what he calls "operation chaos." I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure that one out. But needless to say that didn't work either.

So Rush was on his way to being obsolete until Michael Steele comes along with his apology and now Rush is back on top. Of course we can't forget his continued controversial comments about the current Administration that keeps him in the news. And now the former Vice President has joined in to make Rush seem like a true politician. Well he's not. He is an entertainer. He entertains himself along with the millions of others who listens for entertainment or the ones that actually take him seriously.

Right now, I think the Republican Party is using Limbugh to stay in the news and in the spotlight. Without him, the Republican Party would not even make the news cycle.

Wanda Sykes' Comedy Act at Correspondents' Dinner Mostly Funny, Controversial Jabs Against Rush Limbaugh, Hits Sean Hannity On Waterboarding

Well, Wanda Sykes will be in the news tomorrow and I am pretty sure she will be the first topic "GOP leader" Rush Limbaugh rants about on Monday. Personally, I have never been a big Wanda Sykes fan and she did not do herself much good tonight at the Correspondents' Dinner in Washington D. C. Her comedy was pitchy at times and some of her jokes were funny, some offensive, while others fell flat. What else did you expect to hear from Ms. Sykes? She is cutting-edge and a no-holds barred comedian. In essence, whoever booked her got what they deserved. She hit all the Obama naysayers squarely in the eyes -- Sean Hannity, Dick Cheney and yes, Rush Limbaugh, who she said was the 20th September 11th terrorists who missed the flight because he was strung out on Oxycontin. Ouch.

This routine will undoubtedly be criticized by the right wing and yes, Rush Limbaugh will rant about being called a terrorist on Monday morning. To his comments about his desire to see President Obama fail was met with a stinging and over-the-top response from Sykes -- "the President ought to look into treason against Rush Limbaugh and that he was no better than Osama bin Laden." She said she "hoped his kidneys failed." Ouch. That was a very uncomfortable moment for the President and First Lady and I am sure this will stick in the minds of many. Sykes also sensed that she had shocked the crowd with that remark. She said, "Too much? But you're laughing on the inside..." In actuality, it wasn't funny at all. But the White House Correspondents' Association should have known that Wanda Sykes was a very tart-tongued comedian who goes for the jugular.

Let's backtrack a little. Sykes started off her routine speaking admiringly of the president and then wife Michelle, and lobbed gently funny, but soft hits their way -- about Obama's basketball prowess, and Michelle's bare arms and their history-making presidency.

"This is amazing, you're the first black president. I'm proud to be able to say. But that's unless you screw up. And then it's going to be, 'What's up with that half-white guy? Who voted for the mulatto. What the hell?' " She also poked fun at Nancy Pelosi, saying it was the House Speaker's idea for Obama and VP Joe Biden to grab hamburgers for lunch the other day. "You guys can't hang out out together. What'd she say, 'Why don't you boys go out and get a bite'? You know she was a Hillary supporter."

Then the "oh my God moment started" as her tone changed dramatically and she started hitting on former President George W. Bush. "I gotta say, he broke a lot of stuff. You thought you were moving into a new home, and you've got a fixer-upper. And there are a lot of things that need to be fixed." About the criticism Obama received from animal rights activists concerning his choice of a pedigreed pup," Sykes said, "The man has to rescue a country that's been abused by its previous owner. Let him have a dog."

On the subject of Dick Cheney, Sykes commented, "Oh my god, that's a scary man. Scares me to death. I tell my kids if two cars pull up, and one has a stranger, and the other car has Dick Cheney, you get in the car with the stranger." And she criticized the former VP for "trying to defend torture".

Of course, the right wing will find a reason to blame President Obama, as evidenced from the fact that he laughed during her Oxycontin jab, but again, the blame for anything Sykes said that was shocking lies at the feet of the WHCA and the folks who didn't bother to do their homework before they asked her to perform. Wanda Sykes says what's on her mind, with no reservations. Well, I guess she won't be the headliner at any other political functions in Washington D. C. in the near future.

Many have wondered whether Sarah Palin would run for the Senator Ted Stevens' Senate seat if he were to be expelled from the Senate due to his recent conviction related to more than $250K in gifts he accepted. Well this is a moot point now:

That's one heck of a birthday present, but it looks as if the people of Alaska have spoken. I have to admit that it seems crazy that the race was actually this close. I mean, after all Senator Stevens was actually convicted of this crime before the election even took place. It's amazing that a U.S. Senator can be proven of having extremely bad judgment at least, and a crook at worst, and the people would actually still almost vote him back in!

As for Governor Palin, it looks like she will have to find another way to Washington. The next Alaskan Senate seat is Lisa Murkowski's seat, whose term won't be up until 2011. It looks like Palin might as well stay in Alaska as governor, run for reelection in 2010, and go from there.

Sarah Palin Gets Cold Shoulder at Republican Governors Association's Conference

Sarah Palin just can't fade into the sunset like John McCain. She has given more interviews that I can count and for what? Many have said that she is positioning herself to the leader of the Republican Party, really Sarah? From the cold shoulder she was given in the Republican Governors Association's annual conference, I wonder is she is still maintaining the same position.

Palin brought the most star power to the gathering - she is by far the front-running Republican in terms of network-TV interview time since Election Day. Palin told CNN Wednesday she was not "ruling out" out a run for the White House four years from now. "That is based on my philosophy that it's crazy to close a door before you know what's even open in front of you," she said.

The conference is also a showcase for up-and-coming Republican governors who might want a crack at the Oval Office themselves, including Minnesota's Tim Pawlenty, Florida's Charlie Crist and Louisiana's Bobby Jindal. Who I consider to be serious contenders with something concrete to offer, instead of Sarah Palin. The problem for Sarah Palin is that none of them are rushing to her side.

When Tim Pawlenty said, "'Drill, baby, drill!' by itself is not an energy policy" - referring to the chant that became a staple of Palin's rallies - the target of his tweak was clear. Still, Pawlenty also praised Palin as "an extremely talented person" who is "going to be one of the key voices for the party and for Republicans for a long time to come." When asked if Palin was the best choice McCain could have made for a running mate, no one jumped to answer.

Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, who started the race in former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's corner but later worked for McCain, chimed in: "What happened here is the party and John dropped Sarah into the ninth inning of the World Series three runs down."

Crist initially demurred when asked separately if Palin was a legitimate future possibility for the White House. "I think that's up to her to decide. It's a little early," Crist laughed. Source: NY Daily News

So, I am still trying to figure out what has given Sarah Palin the idea that she could somehow by the next GOP Presidential candidate. She has a lot to learn and if that is her ambition, then she needs to stop giving interviews and start reading and learning about the policy issues out there. Funny, as a naturalized American, I had to take a test on American history before I was told I would be granted naturalization. That would be a good starting place for Sarah Palin. For what it is worth, Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton, who has a lot of experience, though very polarizing. Seems to me Sarah Palin doesn't know when to quit. Some may call it determination and tenacity. I call it wearing out your welcome.

She was incapable of running that tiny town Wasilla (6,715 residents) and her rise to the national political stage was the result of an impulsive unvetted selection by the poorly ran McCain campaign. Sarah Palin proved that she had no knowledge nor an interest in learning about American foreign and domestic policy. Her selection was one of the most disturbing occurrences in modern American political history.

The notion that Sarah Palin's candidacy as vice president could somehow supersede the horrendous two-term presidency of George Bush was an insult to the American voter. She's an idiot, plain and simple. She has derided bloggers, but let me interject, as a professional and a blogger, I am more educated than Sarah Palin has ever been. Mrs. Palin needs to wake up from the nightmare. She is deluded and delusional into thinking that the Republican Party, though in a mess, would entertain the thought that she is a viable candidate for the White House. The honor of being the first female president in American history is not reserved for an idiot like Sarah Palin. Surely, there are other more qualified and intellectually savvy women among us. Sarah Palin needs to cease this ridiculous media blitz she is taking herself on. By the way, who the hell is paying for this? Let me close by saying--Bobby Jindal, Charlie Crist and Tim Pawlenty would get my vote before I would cross party lines to vote for Sarah Palin.

Funny, on Wednesday, after narrowly avoiding defeat in her own race because of those comments, she called Obama's victory, which incidentally included her state, "a tremendous signal we sent." Geez, who is we?

Then Sarah "Pitbull in Lipstick" enters the fray. Of course you will remember that she vehemently accused Mr. Obama of "palling around with terrorists." Well, she took an entirely different position on Thursday, after John McCain was roundly trounced in the election. She said, "Let us, let us--let him--be able to kind of savor this moment, one and not let the pettiness of maybe internal workings of the campaign erode any of the recognition of this historic moment we are in. And God bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family." Wait, did I hear right? Just the day before she was "calling him out" on his positions.

But the greatest about face came from none than Senator Joe Lieberman. He has good reason to try to make up with the winning ticket because Sen. Harry Reid is working really hard to kick him off his position as chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Lieberman was an ardent backer of Mr. McCain and he angered the Democrats, who in 2000 nominated him as their vice-presidential candidate. After losing a Democratic primary challenge in 2006 and then winning as an independent, he still continued to caucus with the Democrats.

Attending an event with Mr. McCain in York, Pa., in August, Mr. Lieberman said the race was “between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.” Yeah, but good old Joe Lieberman wasn't finished kicking the Democrats in their face. So Joe "Judas" Lieberman, realizing that his gamble to support McCain had backfired, he released a statement congratulating Barack Obama for “his historic and impressive victory.” It continued, “The American people are a people of extraordinary fairness.” So now Joe Lieberman has the nerve to want to genuinely find unity and move forward behind the new president. Now he said, through his spokesman that Barack Obama is a genuine patriot and loves his country. Good Lord, I am about to throw up.

While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family--clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

The last nail to the McCain coffin, according to Newsweek, Steve Schmidt (who reportedly picked Palin as VP) would not let her speak on election night, even though she asked to speak. Thank God, the last thing we needed were comments from Caribou Barbie, who had been clearly wrong in her constant berating of Barack Obama. It was quite obvious to me that there were some tense moments between John McCain and Sarah Palin. There was no embrace after he gave his concession speech. He actually seemed to almost forget to embrace his wife. According to media reports, after John McCain and his wife left, Sarah Palin had stuck around to mingle with her "supporters."

So, while I found Sarah Palin to be a little more than moronic, I think the McCain campaign did her a grave disservice in the way in which she was introduced to the American public. It also proves, beyond the shadow of doubt, that his choice of a running mate was a "Hail Mary" pass that was severely flawed from the beginning. For what it is worth, the bickering started well before the campaign was trounced in the election yesterday. The Republican Party brand is damaged, but not irreparable. They will have to go back to basic and rebuild the party from the ground up. The American voter, including myself, is tired of politics as usual and the Republican Party has lost its way. George Bush has done a great disservice to this country, but the politicians on Capitol Hill were complicit to some degree. They let him literally get away with murder. He will, undoubtedly, be treated unkindly in American history and will be voted as one of the worst presidents in this country's history. As some in the Republican Party prayed for rain on Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the DNC convention, the joke is on you. The Republican Party has been hit by the millions of voters who literally rained on their parade. I think they have more than a Sarah Palin problem on their hands.

After all, according to Fox News Chief White House Correspondent Carl Cameron, there was great concern within the McCain campaign that Palin lacked "a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency," in part because she didn't know which countries were in NAFTA, and she "didn't understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series, a country just in itself." Ouch. The blame game has just begun and I have to say, Sarah, "tag, you're it!"

According to CNN, the unusual display was the climax of an annual bonfire celebration Saturday in the southern town of Battle, where political figures are a favorite target of a local tradition that sees a different icon destroyed each year. This year's creation was a rather unflattering depiction of the self-declared "hockey mom," a machine gun brandished in her muscular arms, bright red lipstick surrounding a grimacing smile and a moose at her side.

The caricature of the Alaskan governor was flanked by a smaller effigy of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, wearing a military-style helmet.

Lawrence Eagleburger, Former GOP Secy of State, John McCain Adviser, Says Sarah Palin Not Qualified

If this isn't a slap in the face from another Secretary of State, then I don't know what else is. Lawrence Eagleburger, former Secretary of State and one of John McCain's most senior advisers offered a bleak and frank assessment that Sarah Palin is incapable of handling the presidency, should such an outcome arise, if McCain wins the election.

You see, the irony here is that McCain trumpets Eagleburger's endorsement. He said that Palin is not only unprepared to take over the job on a moment's notice but, even after some time in office, would only amount to an "adequate" commander in chief.

"And I devoutly hope that [she] would never be tested," he added for good measure -- referring both to Palin's policy dexterity and the idea of McCain not making it through his time in office. Damn!

This slap in the face came during an interview on National Public Radio that was, ironically, billed as "making the case" for a McCain presidency. Asked by the host whether Palin could step in during a time of crisis, Eagleburger reverted to sarcasm before leveling the harsh blow.

"It is a very good question," he said, pausing a few seconds, then adding with a chuckle: "I'm being facetious here. Look, of course not."

Eagleburger explained: "I don't think at the moment she is prepared to take over the reigns of the presidency. I can name for you any number of other vice presidents who were not particularly up to it either. So the question, I think, is can she learn and would she be tough enough under the circumstances if she were asked to become president, heaven forbid that that ever takes place?

"Give her some time in the office and I think the answer would be, she will be [pause] adequate. I can't say that she would be a genius in the job. But I think she would be enough to get us through a four year... well I hope not... get us through whatever period of time was necessary. And I devoutly hope that it would never be tested."

According to the Huffington Post, the indictment of Palin was all the more biting because both she and McCain have held Eagleburger up repeatedly during the past several weeks as evidence that the Republican ticket has firm standing and support within foreign policy circles. So, Gen. Colin Powell was absolutely right in his comments about Palin. To be honest, I have always found John McCain to be one of the Republicans that I could tolerate and I would have even given him a chance, but when he opened his mouth, I realized he had no clue on what ails the economy and how to fix it. What solidified my decision not to vote for him was his choice of a running mate. Sarah Palin, for lack of a better word, is a idiot, who can't even get the duties of a vice president right. John McCain literally ridiculed Gen. Powell for his scathing comments about Sarah Palin and now Eagleburger shares Powell's sentiments. Well, who is the idiot now?
