Fox News' Shepard Smith Calls Cheney's Gay Marriage Stance A "Cop Out"

I have always felt that Shephard Smith has no business being among the vultures at Fox News Channel. He and Geraldo Rivera are the only voices of reason, and pretty much the only reason why I tune into Fox News Channel on occasion. Well, Shep laid into former VP Dick Cheney today over his hypocrisy on the issue of gay marriage. We all know Cheney wouldn't be so accepting of gay marriage had one of his daughters not declared to the world that she was gay and in a long term relationship.

Cheney has provided nothing but lip service instead of actually doing much of anything to secure marriage equality for all Americans. In the clip, Smith characterizes Cheney's support as "trying to have it both ways" and as "a cop out." Way to go Shep, you told nothing but the absolute truth about that phony.

Dick Cheney Says He'll Take Limbaugh over Powell

With all this in fighting and bickering going on within the Republican Party, there has to be an outcome of something new. The party will have to emerge as a newly reformed, reborn party. The name-calling, the finger pointing, all the apologizes have to amount to something.

I think a lot of this is being done so that the party can stay in the media and in the minds of Americans while it rebuilds. If it were not for the arguing and in fighting, nothing is coming from the Republican party at all. Not unless you count the publicity Sarah Palin continues to get from time to time.

The latest in-house fighting amongst the Republican Party is former Vice President Dick Cheney saying he would take Rush Limbugh over Colin Powell any day. Come on Dick. I mean really? Rush is an entertainer. Had it not been for the Republican Michael Steele making a public apology to Rush, Rush would be a loner out there continuing to look for a fish to hook.

Everything he attempted in this last presidential election failed miserably. First within his own party he spoke out diligently against John McCain. When McCain won the nomination, of course he had to jump on the bandwagon and go along with McCain. When Obama became the forerunner of the Democratic Party's nomination, after years and years of bashing Hilary Clinton and the Clinton Administration, Limbugh begins what he calls "operation chaos." I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure that one out. But needless to say that didn't work either.

So Rush was on his way to being obsolete until Michael Steele comes along with his apology and now Rush is back on top. Of course we can't forget his continued controversial comments about the current Administration that keeps him in the news. And now the former Vice President has joined in to make Rush seem like a true politician. Well he's not. He is an entertainer. He entertains himself along with the millions of others who listens for entertainment or the ones that actually take him seriously.

Right now, I think the Republican Party is using Limbugh to stay in the news and in the spotlight. Without him, the Republican Party would not even make the news cycle.

Fox News and President Bush, a Relationship that Keeps on Ticking, Even to the Very End

Fox News and President Bush, friends to the very end. Of course you will remember that former Vice President Dick Cheney and other Bush administration officials sometimes let it be known that they stuck with Fox News for their informational needs. And on Tuesday, Fox News returned the favor, even as the rest of Washington remained gripped by Obama fever.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Fox News was the only major national TV outlet that carried a live telecast of former President Bush's homecoming speech to cheering supporters in Midland, Texas. Geez, why am I not surprised. Bill O'Reilly literally shrugged off the massive crowds in Washington D.C. to a "John F. Kennedy thing."

The rest of the networks, however, did not see the Bush address as news fit to broadcast. At 6:40 p.m. EST, MSNBC was in the middle of "Hardball," with host Chris Matthews and guests batting around the meaning of Obama's swearing-in. CNN was carrying live ongoing coverage of the final moments of the inaugural parade, with the Obamas beaming from the White House reviewing stand.

The broadcast networks likewise did not cover the Bush speech. Bush had eight years of media spotlight and this was not his hour.I can't remember the media following Bill Clinton around in the wee hours after his presidency was over. But I am not surprised, Fox News Channel is biased and they will literally hang on to every word President Obama utters to pick it apart.
