Sir'mone McCaulla, Army Reserves Soldier & Post Office Stab Suspect Dead, Cops Say He Likely Committed Suicide

Sir'mone McCaulla, 28, an Army Reserves soldier has been identified as the man who fatally stabbed, Christopher Gutierrez, a young father outside the main post office in New York City, appears to have committed suicide. His body was reportedly found in his ex-girlfriend's apartment in Philadephia, slumped in a tub with a plastic bag over his head. According to the NY Daily News, sources have said that a cable box was found on his chest, which suggests he electrocuted himself.

The NYPD said a Philadelphia police officer recognized McCaulla, who was pronounced dead at a local hospital at at about 6:27 p.m., from their time together in the military. His family seems to think he was not the person who was photographed walking away from the body of Christopher Gutierrez on Sunday. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said three people also called the Crime Stoppers hotline to identify McCaulla, who was stationed in Kuwait at one point.
McCaulla allegedly plunged a knife into Gutierrez's chest after a seemingly minor altercation outside the James A. Farley Post Office on Eighth Ave. in Manhattan on Sunday. Kelly said the two men bumped shoulders and walked past each other, but kept exchanging words, then stopped and squared off. Gutierrez, 20, took off his jacket and assumed a fighting stance, Kelly said. McCaulla then strode toward him, brandishing a knife at his side. "As they get closer, the perpetrator lunges - four quick strokes or jabs - into the victim," Kelly said. Gutierrez, the father of a 1-year-old boy, collapsed on the post office steps. McCaulla, who lived with his mom, had three arrests on his rap sheet, including busts for burglary and robbery.

He had posted a video on his MySpace page in which he counts several thousand dollars worth of hundred-dollar bills, bragging to the camera about his wealth. "This is some people's bank accounts and this is what I use for sneaker money," he says on the video. "I'm addicted to it." Source: NY Daily News
It's a shame Christopher Gutierrez had to lose his life and if McCaulla is the killer, he took the easy way out by ending his life. This has left two families left grappling for answers and for peace. It seems that some of our young men are turning to a life of crime and violence rather than being productive members of society. Christopher Gutierrez, like Derrion Albert, was trying to do the right thing with his life and some hard-core thug ended his life too. There is a breakdown in the family structure of perpetrators such as this young man. While I understand the motivation behind President Obama's decision to go to Copenhagen to lobby for the 2016 Summer Olympics to be awarded to Chicago from a financial perspective, we have far more pressing issues in this country to address. There is something seriously wrong in the inner cities across this country and it speaks to more than a breakdown in the homes.

Anne Morell Petrillo, Daughter of Slain Newspaper Heiress Anne Scripps Douglas, Believed to Have Jumped from Bridge

Anne Morell Petrillo, 38, the daughter of slain newspaper heiress Anne Scripps Douglas, is believed to have committed suicide by jumping off the Tappan Zee Bridge in Tarrytown, NY, Thursday. Incidentally, New York State police said this is the same bridge her stepfather jumped from after killing her mother, Anne Scripps Douglas, nearly 16 years ago. Ms. Petrillo's body has not yet been recovered, but the police have confirmed that they believe she had committed suicide. The Journal News of Westchester County is reporting that she apparently got out of her car on the bridge, removed her clothes and then jumped into the Hudson River around 8 p.m.

  Anne Morell Petrillo, (Journal News)

The death of her mother in 1993 shed light on the fact that domestic violence can also occur among the affluent as well. Ms. Petrillo’s stepfather, Scott Douglas, beat his wife to death with a hammer in Ms. Petrillo’s bedroom on New Year's Eve in 1993. Mr. Douglas fled and jumped from the Tappan Zee. His body was found three months later.

Anne Douglas was the great-great-granddaughter of James Scripps, the founder of The Detroit News. Morell Petrillo, in addition to her sister and stepsister, is survived by a teenage son. Her father, Anthony X. Morell, died in 2005.

Dennis Carter Sr., Kills Estranged Wife, Son and Two-Year Old Grandson, Before Turning the Gun on Himself as Police Closed in

Authorities in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, said Dennis Carter Sr. went on a shooting rampage killing his estranged wife Donna Carter, 49, son Dennis Carter Jr., 26, his son Mason Carter, 2, as well as critically injuring his pregnant daughter-in-law Amber Carter, 25. This scumbag turned the gun on himself as he fled in his car and the police were closing in. This heinous crime occurred in the town of Holden, Louisiana, located 35 miles east of Baton Rouge.

Deputies believe Amber Carter attempted to escape from the gunman by jumping from a second-story window, holding Mason in her arms, but the boy did not survive his gunshot wounds. The police said Amber Carter had several bullets wounds and they believe she was shot in the back as she attempted to get out of the window. She is in critical condition in a New Orleans hospital.

Why Dennis Carter Sr. was not incarcerated is amazing. According to the sheriff's office, records from the Livingston Parish Detention Center show that he had been jailed "on three separate occasions in 2009 alone, on three separate charges of violation of a protective order and one charge of aggravated assault (domestic)."

Hazem Khalid al-Braikan, Kuwaiti Businessman Charged With Fraud by the SEC, Reportedly Commits Suicide

Hazem Khalid al-Braikan, a Kuwaiti businessman linked to Citigroup and who has been charged in the United States with fraud, has committed suicide. He was reportedly found dead in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head and a handgun by his side. What is rather interesting about this latest turn of events is the fact that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged al-Braikan, the CEO of Al-Raya Investment Co., last week with scheming to make millions by manipulating the stock of certain U.S. companies. The SEC said it was freezing more than $5 million in profits it believes were made off questionable deals by al-Braikan and three companies  he was associated with. It is also interesting to note that his company is 10-percent owned by Citigroup Inc.
The SEC said al-Braikan's company as well as two other companies – the United Gulf Bank and KIPCO Asset Management Co. – traded shares based on two phony announcements. One announcement faxed to media outlets July 19 and subsequently reported on the Internet the following day stated that a Middle Eastern investment group made an offer to acquire Stamford, Connecticut-based electronic systems maker Harman International Industries Inc.

Harman was forced to issue a statement last Monday denying it had been approached by a mysterious Gulf investor known as the Arabian Peninsula Group following a number of media reports. The company's shares tumbled sharply once the hoax was revealed.

In April, rumors and a report in a Kuwaiti newspaper that a consortium of Middle East companies was offering to buy Textron Inc. sent shares of the Providence, Rhode Island company soaring more than 50 percent in a single day. No deal for the manufacturer of Bell helicopters, Cessna jets and turf-maintenance equipment emerged, and shares plunged a few days later.

The SEC said al-Braikan and the others "amassed positions in the one or both of the securities of the companies shortly before the bogus offers were publicized." They then sold their securities at "prices inflated by the false information to reap their illicit profits." Source: Huffington Post
Some may say that this man was murdered or others will say he killed himself because the noose was literally tightening around his neck. He could have just been terribly beaten at his shady and unscrupulous game.

Alexis Arguello, 57, Former Boxing Champ, Found Dead of Apparent Suicide with Gunshot Wound to the Chest

Former boxing champ Alexis Arguello, 57, was found dead in his home in Nicaragua early this morning. The La Prensa newspaper reported the Arguello, who was elected mayor of Managua last year, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Arguello retired in 1995 with a record of 82-8 with 65 knockouts and was a champion in three weight divisions. He was best known for two thrilling battles with Aaron Pryor and fights with Ray Mancini, Bobby Chacon and Ruben Olivares. Me, I am not a boxing fan, but my father loves the sport and pointed the news to me about Arguello.

Arguello "The Explosive Thin Man," was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992, where flags were flying at half-staff in his honor Wednesday. According to media reports, in 1999, a panel of experts assembled by The Associated Press voted Arguello the best junior lightweight and sixth-best lightweight of the 20th century. He never lost a fight at 130 pounds, and his popularity in his own country was so great that he carried the flag for Nicaragua at the Beijing Olympics.

Arguello will be remembered for his courageous fight against the Sandinista government in the 1980s, especially after it seized his property and bank account. He later joined the party and ran for mayor of the capital last November. He defeated Eduardo Montealegre, though opponents alleged the vote was fraudulent.

Mark Levy, Washington DC-based counsel and chair of Kilpatrick Stockton’s Supreme Court, Appellate Advocacy Firm, Commits Suicide in his Office

The law offices of Kilpatrick Stockton had laid off 24 lawyers yesterday and this morning, police and firefighters responded when Mark Levy, Washington DC-based counsel and chair of Kilpatrick Stockton’s Supreme Court and Appellate Advocacy practice, shot himself at the DC office. What a selfish SOB. He was reportedly one of the attorneys terminated this week.

His listing on the firm’s web site states that he was a Yale Law School grad, a former member of the Clinton Department of Justice and a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Virginia School of Law. The firm employs more than 500 attorneys in ten offices globally: Atlanta and Augusta, Georgia; Charlotte, Raleigh and Winston-Salem, North Carolina; New York, New York; Washington, DC; Dubai, UAE; London, UK; and Stockholm, Sweden.

I have written pretty extensively about the recent rise in murder-suicides and a common thread is the inability to deal with financial problems. Most of us are struggling to make ends meet right not, but there is no problem that is insurmountable. As I said before, when the going gets tough, we see the true character of many of these people who kill themselves and members of their families.

David Kellermann, 41, the Acting Chief Financial Officer of Freddie Mac, Apparently Committed Suicide

Here we go again, another suicide, but this time it's a high-level one. David Kellermann, 41, the acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, has apparently committed suicide, Fairfax County Police tell WTOP. According to media reports, Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Anne Jennings said Kellermann was found at his Hunter Mill Estates home this morning. The police responded to the home after family members called police around five a.m. He reportedly hung himself.
"We were called from inside the house to come investigate an apparent suicide," Jennings says. Because of legal ramifications, Jennings says she can't describe the nature of the suicide. Police on the scene tell WTOP Kellermann's body was found downstairs, but would not say exactly where. "We're not to give you details of the condition of the body, except to say it was an apparent suicide," Jennings says. Source: WTOP News
Kellermann has worked at Freddie Mac for more than 16years. He was named acting chief financial officer of the agency in September 2008. He took over after Anthony "Buddy" Piszel resigned. In his position he was responsible for the company's financial controls, financial reporting and oversight of the company's budget and financial planning. Yeah, something smells fishy here. It is going to be very interesting to see what led him down this path of self-destruction.

You will recall that Freddie Mac has been widely and sharply criticized for its reckless business practices that some have argued played a big role in the housing and financial crisis. Freddic Mac is a government-controlled company that owns or guarantees about 13 million home loans. CEO David Moffett resigned last month. Freddie Mac and its big sister Fannie Mae, which together own or back more than half of the home mortgages in the country, have been weighed down by skyrocketing loan defaults and have received about $60 billion in combined federal aid.

Stay tuned, this is still developing.....

Cecil Ramsey, Retired NYPD officer, Fires at Wife, Dady Belfort, Her Friend Edwin Chittick, in Jealous Rage before Shooting Himself on Long Island

The gun violence continues. Cecil Ramsey, a retired NYPD officer, shot and killed himself yesterday, but not before, in a fit of rage, opening fire on his wife, Dady Belfort and her friend Edwin Chittick, who thankfully survived. Ramsay, 51, reportedly confronted his wife and her friend inside their home, accusing them of being more than pals. The drama played out in the street. He pumped three shots into his wife's Mercedes after she and her friend left the home. Shortly thereafter, three construction workers said a dejected Ramsey put the gun to his head and fired.
Ramsay, who police said had a heart condition and was waiting for a transplant, died instantly. His body lay in the driveway for hours while investigators pieced together the tragedy.

"He was pushed over the edge," Ramsay's sister, Brenda, 58, said after rushing to his home. "She drove him to this." Brenda Ramsey said her brother's marriage had been on the rocks for years, and he had become convinced Belfort and Chittick were lovers.

"He would call me and say this man is right in my house," Brenda Ramsay said. After a heated fight on Valentine's Day, Ramsay moved in with his sister temporarily and left some of his things at her place, including two guns. Cecil Ramsay returned two weeks ago to reclaim his weapons, his sister said. "He said, 'This guy's a cop, and he's in my house - I need to protect myself,'" Brenda Ramsay said. Ramsay's relatives said he filed for divorce two weeks ago, citing Belfort's alleged infidelity.

Ramsay and Belfort wed more than 10 years ago, but had been sleeping in separate bedrooms for several years, his relatives said. They have a 9-year-old son. Ramsay, a former stockbroker and National Guardsman, retired from the NYPD in 2001 due to health issues, relatives said. He leaves behind seven children. Belfort has been with the NYPD since 1989. She spent 15 years in Brooklyn's 69th Precinct working in community affairs. Source: NY Daily News.
This is a shame and it is also unconscionable that this man felt he had no other way out but to kill himself. Nobody has won in this mess, with the greatest loser being the couple's nine-year old son, who will know that his father committed suicide. If this woman was cheating on her husband in plain view, then that's a real shame, considering the man had medical issues.

Mary Lovelace, Jumps 60 Feet to Death at Queens Center Mall, and Lands on Teenager, Derrik Munoz, Relaxing in Recliner

I have long felt that most of the people who commit suicide are selfish. They don't think of the implications of their actions. Well, we have a prime example of such a selfish person. Mary Lovelace, 55, of Jamaica, Queens, jumped 60 feet to her death at the crowded Queens Center Mall yesterday. Yes, crowded mall. She knew exactly what she was doing and wanted to get all the attention, I guess she felt she needed. The only hitch is that she landed in the lap of a teenager, Derrik Munoz, relaxing in a massage chair below. Mind you, she did this while scores of horrified shoppers watch this drama unfold.
Mary Lovelace took off her shoes and put her purse on a bench before climbing over a waist-high barrier at around 3 p.m. and plunging to the ground as scores of stunned shoppers watched.

"We heard people say, 'Don't jump! Don't jump!'" said Kathy Molkandow, 19, of Queens, who works in a clothing store.

Lovelace fell onto 17-year-old Derrik Munoz, who was chatting with his girlfriend on a reclining, dollar bill-operated massage chair on the ground floor. "We were talking and all of a sudden I feel something heavy on me," said Daniela Giraldo, 18, of Queens, Derrik's girlfriend. "I get up and I see a lady on the floor."

A younger man who was walking with Lovelace raced in agony to her side, but it was too late to help. "He screamed, 'No!'" said Jonathan Arrunategui, 16, of Queens, a shopper. "He ran straight [down] the escalators."

At first, Derrik, a 10th-grader from Amityville, L.I., seemed fine. Then Giraldo noticed blood all over him and a gash in the back of his head: "I panicked, I started to cry," Giraldo said. "I didn't know what to do." Source: NY Daily News
So, her actions could have permanently maimed this young man. The doctors reportedly put a brace on his neck. Ms. Lovelace knew exactly what she was doing. I don't advocate suicide, but why come to the mall to have your last hurrah? It's spring break and kids are at the mall, their favorite hangout, enjoying a week off from school. Never mind the emotional toll being an eyewitness to such a horrific act is. She cared only about herself and it showed in her actions. She deliberately traumatized the two teenagers who were with her. Me, me, me to the very end.

Steve Smick Commits Suicide at Altar of Pastor Robert H. Schuller's Crystal Cathedral

There is more drama following Pastor Robert H. Schuller and his Crystal Cathedral. Apparently Steve Smick, 48, walked into the church Wednesday morning, handed a church greeter a note, then knelt in front of a cross and shot himself in the head, leaving him dead at the altar. All this occurred at a suicide-prevention lecture.
According to the Orange County Register, greeters at the church said a man had shot himself in the head inside the main church. Betty Spicer, one of the greeters, said she welcomed the man as he entered the church asking him where he was from. The man, who had long-hair and was “a bit unkempt,” responded, “Around here,” Spicer said. Then he handed her a piece of paper folded over, with his driver’s license inside. “He was in a hurry,” Spicer said. The note, in bold marker, indicated he’d parked a pickup truck in the parking lot and had borrowed a gun from a friend, Spicer said.

The man went to the front of the church, knelt in front of a large gold cross, reached into a backpack and then put the gun to his head. Spicer said she thought the man was praying before she heard a loud pop. The man had a semi-automatic handgun and fired one round to his head, Lt. Ellsworth said. Source: OC Register
There is no connection between the man and the church. It is just so ironic that he chose that church to kill himself, considering that the same church is embroiled in its own scandal and the slow death of the Schuller dynasty.

William Foxton, Former British Army Major, Commits Suicide After Losing Life Savings in Mammoth Pyramid Scheme Masterminded by Bernard Madoff

Another victim for financier Bernard Madoff has committed suicide. Retired British army major William Foxton killed himself after losing his life savings in scumbag Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. It's amazing that the mainstream media managed to bury this for a few days, since it happened on Tuesday.

Here's my issue with this whole Bernie Madoff scandal -- if you steal a $10 item from a store and you are caught with it, you don't get house arrest. You get jail time, no questions asked. But here we have this dirtbag, who literally robbed his investors blind and he gets house arrest. What's wrong with this picture? I am also wondering why charges were not brought against Martha Madoff, who moved millions around right before her husband was arrested. Had that been you or I, you know what the outcome would be -- clang, clang, the sound of a prison cell.
Police in the English town of Southampton say William Foxton, 65, died from a single gunshot to head on Tuesday and that a pistol was recovered at the scene. An inquest still needs to determine the cause of death, but police in the town, 80 miles (130 kilometers) southwest of London, say the shooting was not suspicious. Willard Foxton said it was suicide.

William Foxton, who served in the French Foreign Legion and rose to the rank of major in the British army, lost an arm during service in the military. He retired in the 1970s. His son said he did not know the exact circumstances of the injury, explaining that his father told him little about his time in the army.

William later threw himself into humanitarian work, spending the 1990s and early 2000s in the Balkans, where he was a member of the European Commission Monitoring Mission and spent time as a spokesman for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He also did work for the German charity Arbeiter Samariter Bund, his son Willard Foxton said. Source: Huffington Post
Well, I have no sympathy for Mr. Foxton. He took the selfish and easy way out. I do agree that it is virtually impossible for any of the victims to recoup their money, especially those who have already reached retirement age. Still, you cannot tell me that the only alternative Mr. Foxton had was to pull the trigger and end his life. That behavior displayed a selfishness towards the welfare of his wife and the rest of his family. I guess we know who his god was -- the money Bernie Madoff stole from him. Simply shameful.

George Anthony, Grandfather of Murdered Toddler Caylee Anthony, Found in Hotel Room Despondent After Family Reported him Missing

Well, the drama continues with Casey Anthony and her family. It seems that the death of Caylee Anthony has taken a toll on her grandfather George Anthony. He was found alive this morning in a Daytona Beach motel after his family reported him missing late Thursday. The stress of this whole case is weighing heavily on the parents of Casey Anthony.
Daytona Beach police took Anthony into custody under the Baker Act after finding him in a motel on S. Ridgewood Avenue. The Baker Act allows authorities to hold someone at a mental-health facility for up to 72 hours while they are evaluated by physicians. Anthony, 57, was taken to the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he is being evaluated.

Anthony, reportedly left his home on Hopespring Drive in east Orange County Thursday
morning and failed to show up for a 4 p.m. meeting with his wife, Cindy, and their attorney Brad Conway. George Anthony sent several text messages to his family members suggesting that he wanted to end his life, Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said this morning. Police Chief Mike Chitwood spoke with George Anthony and convinced him to seek medical attention, reports show. Source: Orlando Sentinel
I can imagine the stress this family in under due to the selfish act of their daughter, Casey Anthony. Still, George Anthony's actions of committing suicide would not help his family. I am sure that he is consumed with so much guilt from the obvious missteps he and his wife committed concerning this little girl's well-being. He needs some serious counselling and his actions tell me that there is an admission of guilt somewhere in all this about who killed this little girl.

Real-Estate Executive Steven L. Good Found Dead of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Well, the more dire the economy becomes the more suicides occur. Well, at least of money managers and other rich folks. The latest is Steven L. Good, 52, who was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found in his Jaguar in a forest preserve outside Chicago, said the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
Mr. Good was chief executive of Sheldon Good & Co., one of the nation's largest real-estate auction firms. His father founded the company in 1965. As chairman of the Realtors Commercial Alliance Committee, Mr. Good said last month in an industry outlook news release that market conditions were "very challenging."

According to the company's Web site, Sheldon Good "has sold more than 45,000 U.S. and international properties in more than 100 different classes and produced more than $10 billion in sales."

Mr. Good wrote a book called "Churches, Jails and Gold Mines...Mega-Deals from a Real Estate Maverick." In it, Mr. Good tells how he purportedly turned his auction firm into the real-estate equivalent of Sotheby's or Christie's. "That book is a must-read for anyone in real-estate auctions," said Chris Longly, spokesman for the National Auctioneers Association. Source: Wall Street Journal
This latest wave of suicides show how materialistic people are. Poor folks won't kill themselves. They'll make do with what they have. Some rich folks freak out once the market goes down. They are in a tailspin and the only alternative for them is suicide. How selfish. This comes on the heels of German billionaire Adolf Merckle killing himself because his fortune dipped a couple billions. A message to all the rich folks contemplating suicide, think about your family first and the anguish and heartache that would ensue.

Billionaire Merckle Killed by Train, Die Welt Reports, Possible Suicide

German newspaper Die Welt is reporting that German billionaire Adolf Merckle, whose investment company was renegotiating its bank debt, died after he was hit by a train and may have committed suicide, Die Welt reported.

Merckle was struck near his hometown of Blaubeuren, southeast of Stuttgart, yesterday evening, the German newspaper said on its Web site today. Police said he may have killed himself, the newspaper said.

Yep, another investment baron to fall flat on his face. Merckle had lost money from a series of wrong-way bets on Volkswagen AG, a drop in the value of his HeidelbergCement AG stake and increasing debt. The 74-year-old, whose estimated $9.2 billion fortune put him 94th on Forbes’s list of the world’s richest people, was negotiating with banks on a bridge loan to rescue his investment company VEM Vermoegensverwaltung GmbH.

Merckle was to get more than $547 million in bridge loans to rescue VEM, Financial Times Deutschland reported yesterday, citing unidentified bankers. I hate to say it, but Merckle won't be the last to kill himself over bad investments. It isn't everyday that people leisurely stroll on the railroad tracks and get hit by a passing train, unless of course, they wanted to get killed.
