President Bush received a helluva send-off in Iraq. The man just can't catch a break. He thought he was doing a good thing, but alas, woe is President George W. Bush. He has good reflects because he ducked right in time and missed the shoes which was hurled at him. This is hilarious and shameful at the same time. Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien and all the comedians will make use of this incident in their routines.
According to media reports, an Iraqi television journalist hurled two shoes at President Bush on Sunday during a joint news conference Bush was holding with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki to mark the signing of a U.S.-Iraq security agreement. President Bush had just finished his prepared remarks in which he said the security agreement was made possible by the U.S. surge of troops to Iraq last year, when the journalist, Muthathar al Zaidi, pulled his shoes off and hurled them at the president. "This is a goodbye kiss, you dog," Zaidi shouted.I have never heard of a president of the United States having shoes lobbed at them in defiance. Hah. This video will be a hit for years to come. President George W. Bush is the gift that keeps on giving. He deserves shoes being thrown at him for the mess he has created. Dana Perino, his press secretary was reportedly injured in the scuffle. I hope she will be okay.
Bush ducked as the shoes flew by and was not struck. The shoes slammed into the wall behind the two leaders, and bodyguards quickly wrestled Zaidi to the floor and hauled him, kicking and screaming, from the room. Two other Iraqi journalists were briefly detained after one of them called Zaidi's actions "courageous." Bush shrugged off the incident. "I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it," he said.
Zaidi works for an Iraqi satellite television station based in Cairo. Friends said he covered the U.S. bombing of Baghdad's Sadr City area earlier this year and had been "emotionally influenced" by the destruction he'd seen. They also said he'd been kidnapped in 2007 and held for three days by Shiite Muslim gunmen. Source: McClatchy
