Do you know what "GOP" stands for? Grand Old Party, in case you drew a blank. A new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll finds that just 45% of Americans overall correctly identify the meaning of "GOP." Coming in second with 35% of the overall vote, was "Government of the People;" "Grumpy Old People" received 7% of the vote; "God's Own Party" 3%, and "Gauntlet of Power," 1% of the vote. Um, no we know why kids don't know American history. Their parents don't either.

GA Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Nathan Deal Financial Woes Make Him Unsuitable to Become Governor

Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Nathan Deal is in for a rough ride because he son-in-law Chapter 7 bankruptcy debacle and the fact that he loaned them millions for a failed outdoors business. You see, you can't lie on your bankruptcy documents and expect to be given a slap on the wrist. Well, let me back up.... Deal's daughter, Carrie, and her husband, Clint Wilder, filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition in 2009 for their failed business that left them with $2.1 million in debts, but it seems that Wilder neglected to inform the court, by way of his paperwork, that he had filed for bankruptcy in 2001. The federal bankruptcy law states that debtors must wait at least eight years between bankruptcies to have their debts discharged under Chapter 7 of the federal bankruptcy code.

So, Carrie & Clint Wilder have a big problem on their hands, not to mention the fact that Nathan Deal has a big public relations mark from this as well. You see, the couple could see their bankruptcy case tossed out and possibly face criminal charges for lying under oath. Nathan Deal's office was quick to say the couple are not public figures and not running for office, but it does speak to his ability to make sound financial decisions. He should have made sure he and his wife were named in the bankruptcy petition as creditors. He seems to chock that up to an error.

Further, questions still swirl around Deal's personal finance. This time his latest financial disclosure has raised eyebrows.

Deal might not have followed state guidelines for valuing certain properties in the amended financial disclosure for 2009 that he filed Sept. 23 with the State Ethics Commission. The disclosure might reflect fair-market values, but they do not appear to conform with state guidelines.

The Sept. 23 disclosure, filed seven days after a previous amended disclosure, came after scrutiny about turmoil in his personal finances arose and certain assets and liabilities appeared to be omitted from earlier reports. Source

Though I find former Gov. Roy Barnes a less than stellar candidate, particularly since he served in the same position previously and was not terribly effective, I find Nathan Deal's financial blemishes a big deterrent to getting my vote. I just don't see how he can be a good governor fiscally speaking. If you can't handle your own finances, then how can we expect you to do the same for Georgia, a state that has seen high unemployment and foreclosure rates, as well as shaky school test scores, high crime rates in certain pockets and a whole host of other problems. Roy Barnes is the lesser of two evils. With Nathan Deal, there's not telling what other financial issue will be uncovered. Is he really worth the hassle?

Sarah Palin Tells Witchcraft Dabbler Christine O'Donnell National Media Seeking her Destruction

Christine O'Donnell (R-DE) is starting to act as flaky as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin when it comes to the media. After Bill Maher dug up old footage of O'Donnell saying she dabbled in witchcraft, Palin has come out swinging for her. She tweeted Sunday, after O'Donnell canceled her appearance on two Sunday morning talk shows:

"C[hristine] O'Donnell strategy: time's limited;use it 2 connect w/local voters whom you'll be serving vs appeasing nat'l media seeking ur destruction," Palin tweeted.

Once again, Sarah Palin has missed the mark. Why blame the media for what Christine O'Donnell did? The media didn't tell her to dabble in witchcraft, engage in fuzzy math, take a hypocritical Christian stance against masturbation, etc. So, it's okay to say and do ridiculous things in the past and get a pass, as long as you are a Republican, right? Sorry, but this woman is just as flaky as Sarah Palin and is an empty pant suit. She has nothing to bring to the table for the people of Delaware. She rode the coattails of the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. She has been a career political candidate, with absolutely no record of accomplishment for the people of her state. Even Karl Rove and Bill Kristol, staunch Republicans, have an issue with her viability as a senator.

Karen Handel Opposes Gay Marriage, Says "There are Many Restrictions on Who can Marry Whom"

Georgia gubernatorial candidates oppose gay marriage and Karen Handel says "there are many restrictions on who can marry whom," really?

For all the Georgians out there wondering where the gubernatorial candidate Roy Barnes and the GOP candidates facing a runoff, stand on the recent overturning of Proposition 8 in California, they oppose gay marriage. I found Karen Handel's response even more disgusting than Roy Barnes and Nathan Deal. Here's an excerpt from CBS Atlanta:

Republicans Nathan Deal and Karen Handel -- locked in an Aug. 10 runoff for their party's nomination -- each reiterated their opposition to gay marriage. Deal said the ruling "undermines the credibility of the judicial system and outrages Georgians in both parties."

Handel noted that freedom to marry is not a right and said "there are many restrictions on who can marry whom."

Democrat Roy Barnes, who's already locked up his party's nomination, said he believes marriage "is between a man and a woman" and is not in favor of changing state law.

Wow, I wonder to which restrictions is Ms. Handel referring? The minimum age of consent to marry in Georgia? Or could be referring to interracial marriage? Here's another reason why we all should should be wary of Karen Handel. She seems to have a propensity for running to the ultra conservatives in Georgia. I would love to hear about those restrictions about whom can marry whom in Georgia. Is this woman in the dark ages or what?

Sarah Palin, Alaska's "Quitter-in-Chief" Says President Obama "In Over His Head" & Inexperienced to Govern

Sarah Palin, who quit as governor of Alaska, says President Barack Obama "in over his head" and he’s really in flux when it comes to what his governing philosophy really is."

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah "Quitter" Palin has a lot of nerve, but we already knew that, right? Well, she continues to reinvent herself as the biggest scam in American politics and the biggest idiot at the same time. During a speech Wednesday night, she continued to verbally assail President Obama. It would be okay for her to do that, if she had a stellar record of political service to this country, but she doesn't. According to Politico, she said President Barack Obama has proven to be “in over his head.” Kinda like her situation in Alaska? You know, when she quit on the people of Alaska when she resigned in the middle of her term as governor.

“I think he’s quite complacent and I think he’s in over his head and he has poor advisers around him and I think he’s really in flux when it comes to what his governing philosophy really is,” she said. “Some of this though is a result of him not having much experience,” added Palin, who left the governor’s office half way through her first term. Palin blamed a “complicit media” and voters who did not demand that Obama be fully “vetted” during the presidential campaign. Source

I also blame the "complicit media" and John McCain's campaign for not thoroughly vetting this idiot before adding her to the ticket. This is like the "pot cursing the kettle" and Sarah Palin is in no position to criticize Barack Obama. What has she done during her stint as governor? Sorry, but being the mayor of Wasilla doesn't automatically qualify her for the White House. If these statements came from someone with a record of achievement, then I would give it a second thought, but this is coming from someone who couldn't even get a Bachelors' degree without going to four schools in six years and from somewhat who clearly doesn't practice what she preaches. It's high time someone with "cojones" in the Republican Party "refudiates" the crap coming from Sarah Palin.

Is GOP Faces' Dig Against President Barack Obama Mingling with the Wealthy & Powerful at Upcoming Events About Race?

GOP Faces takes offense to President Obama's circle of wealthy friends and ritzy fundraisers, insinuating that the "black man" has overstepped his bounds.

It continues to infuriate the right wing, including elements in the Republican Party that President Obama moves in a circle of well-known people. This is particularly evident for his upcoming events, which will include hanging out with celebrities, designers, media mavens and the like. GOP Faces released a new article, "The President Wears Prada" as somehow to scold him for the company he keeps. I guess, since he is black, they expected to see him with the likes of Snoop Doggie Dog, Ice-T, Suge Knight, P. Diddy, Kanye West and perhaps Russell Simmons.

In other words, the black man has overstepped his bounds according to GOP Faces, when he hangs out with the likes of Calvin Klein, Harvey Weinstein, Bernard Schwartz, Obama booster Jane Hartley, Anne Hess, former Clinton boosters Stan Shuman and Michael Kempner, Vogue editrix Anna Wintour's home, Larry Gagosian, the art dealer who was a Clinton backer, along with Miramax founder Harvey Weinstein, and designer Calvin Klein, an Obama booster, and Marissa Mayer of Google fame. There's a terrible double standard that stinks here. It's okay for the spineless and classless RNC chief Michael Steele to hang out with sleazebag Andrew Breitbart after he committed one of the biggest character assassinations in recent American history of a black woman, Shirley Sherrod, who was thrown under a bus by many because of something that happened 24 years ago. Hey, what about all those high-priced events President George W. Bush attended during his first term in office? You will recall that he became toxic in the second term and Republicans ran from him like he had the cooties. Still, what about all those big shindigs that Republican supporters throw for their favored candidates? How come we haven't heard any outrage from GOP Faces?

They claim President Obama has a penchant for ritziness. So, who cares? Didn't John McCain have that same penchant too, considering his wife is wealthy and they move in certain circles? Wasn't President George W. Bush and his father used to a certain lifestyle because they were wealthy? I didn't hear any outrage then. Give me a break. This is much ado about nothing from the Party of NO.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says "Some White Republicans Scared of Me"

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele is spouting off again. This time he said that some white Republicans are scared of him. During an appearance on NewsOne's Washington Watch Sunday, host Roland Martin asked him about bringing in more African American voters to the Republican party. 

According to The Hill, Martin said, "One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks," Martin said.

"You're absolutely right. I mean I've been in the room and they've been scared of me," Steele said. "I'm like, 'I'm on your side' and so I can imagine going out there and talking to someone like you, you know, [say] 'I'll listen.' And they're like, 'Well.'"

Glenn Beck Goes On Bizarre Rant Against President Obama's Health Care Plan: "Be Afraid" (VIDEO)

Could someone please tell me why any media outlet would pay a mediocre television personality such as Glenn Beck millions of dollars to make a complete fool of himself? He contributed in a ridiculous way to the GOP effort to kill President Obama's health care reform plan with a bizarre rant on his show today. He engaged in fear-mongering of the worse kind and direly warned Americans to "be afraid" because Obama is remaking the country "into a place that's a whole lot crappier," and that the United States is becoming a "hybrid between France and Venezuela." Really Glenn?

This rant comes on the heels of Brian Kilmeade's racist rant during a discussion with his Fox & Friends co-hosts about a Swedish and Finnish study which found that married people were less susceptible to Alzheimer's disease than unmarried ones. Kilmeade downplayed the study's significance in America, saying "we [Americans] keep marrying other species and other ethnicities . . . Swedes have pure genes . . . in America we marry everybody..." He apologized this morning for those hateful statements.

News Corporation is an organization made up of bottom feeders and fear mongers from top to bottom of that organization and yes, that includes their foreign holdings.

Senator Arlen Spector, Longtime GOP Member is now a Democrat

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Spector has announced today that he is switching to the Democratic Party. This move will give the Democratic Party the 60 seat filibuster majority needed in Congress pending Al Franken wins the disputed Senate race in Minnesota.



"Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right," Specter said in a statement posted by his office on PoliticsPA.com.
"Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans." Cnn.com




I can only imagine what the right wing conservatives are saying about this move. I know Rush and Hannity will have a field day with this one. I think that it is good in American politics where a politician can freely change political parties. It shows a lot about our democracy here in the US. Yet, I have to mention a concern when it comes to the Democratic party having a majority filibuster. I think it is dangerous for any party to have that much power. The checks and balances throughout the political party system is what has kept this country on track thus far. One party having complete control can be dangerous along with scary.


I'm sure Specter has a personal agenda behind the whole thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Republicans are like an arsonist who complains that the fire department is wasting water!

I am beginning to view the Republican Party as little more that obstructionists to progress. Not only do their leaders shirk their responsibility for the many crises that this country finds itself in, but they spend an excessive amount of time engaging in anti-Obama rhetoric.

The old adage that "if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem" seems fitting. And I'm not the only one who feels this way.

CNN contributor, Paul Begala's recent commentary is a scathing review of GOP actions as of late:

Obama is trying to handle an immediate crisis while also laying the foundation for long-term growth. The Republicans are doing neither. They have no plan to stop the loss of jobs or to get capital markets functioning properly -- and they certainly have no plans for health care, education or energy, which are the keys to both long-term economic growth and long-term deficit reduction.

All the energy -- indeed all debate -- is on the progressive side of the aisle. The Obama administration's only intellectual challengers are on the left, where economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and others are offering a vigorous critique and proposing alternative solutions. But where are the Republicans? Doing nothing but complaining. Unless and until they do offer an alternative, they really have no right to whine about the president. For once I agree with something Republican National Committee leader Michael Steele has said. In an interview with GQ's Lisa DePaulo, he stated that abortion is an "individual choice. The problem for him is that isn't likely to go over very well with the GOP. Of course, Steele is on the verge of a no-confidence vote, so some may wave it off as further ignorance on his part of his new role.

The key passage:

L: How much of your pro-life stance, for you, is informed not just by your catholic faith, but by the fact that you were adopted?

M: Oh, a lot. Absolutely. I see the power of life in that. I mean, and the power of choice! The thing to keep in mind about it, uh, you know, I think as a country we get off on these misguided conversations that throw around terms that really misrepresent truth.

L: Explain that.

M: The choice issue cuts two ways. You can choose life or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life. So, you know, I think the power of the argument of choice boils down to stating a case for one or the other.

L: Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion?

M: Yeah. I mean, again, I think that's an individual choice.

L: You do?

M: Yeah. Absolutely.

L: Are you saying you don't want to overturn Roe v. Wade?

La. Gov. Bobby Jindal's Rebuttal to President Obama's Homerun Speech was Choppy and Simply a Disgrace, First Auto Made in Germany, Not the USA

I must admit, when I first heard about Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, I felt that was a refreshing change and a new face. Well, he opened his mouth the rebut President Obama's speech and he has removed all doubt. If this was the best the GOP could do, then they are in worst shape than I had realized. Bobby Jindal was a hot mess and his speech bordered on incoherent. I loved when he wrangled over the issue of Hurricane Katrina. He was like a deer caught between headlights. A MSNBC host muttered "Oh God" as Jindal walked out. Hah. He should have waited until after the speech to mutter those words. Watch him implode. Judge for yourself.

I believe the honors go to Germany, home of Karl Friedrich Benz, who invented the first true, four-wheel, gasoline powered, internal combustion-engine in 1885 or maybe Gottlieb Wilhelm Daimler, who accomplished the same feat. The United States of America, by way of Henry Ford, invented mass production of automobiles. So, while he wasn't totally correct, he wasn't totally wrong either.



According to Wikipedia, Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach founded Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (Daimler Motor Company, DMG) in Cannstatt in 1890 and under the brand name, Daimler, sold their first automobile in 1892, which was a horse-drawn stagecoach built by another manufacturer, that they retrofitted with an engine of their design.

I knew it was a matter of time before new GOP party chief Michael Steele put his foot in his mouth. He is now promising an "off the hook" public relations blitz into "urban-suburban hip-hop settings" in hopes of wooing Latinos and African-Americans. Right. I am sure he will succeed in that ridiculous endeavor.

Steele is searching for Americans of all ethnic backgrounds to join his Grand Old Party, and I do mean "old." "We need to uptick our image with everyone, including one-armed midgets," he joked. Right. He will succeed when donkeys fly and it will be a cold day in Hell.

Steele told the Washington Times that he aimed to revive the party by breaking out of the South and Southwest and to "reach beyond our comfort" zone to expand in Democratic strongholds like the Northeast and Midwest.

"We missed the mark in the past, which is why we are in the crapper now," he said. "We had the White House, the Senate and the House and were not building a farm team over the last years. He said he's planning a massive advertising outreach online, on TV and on the radio that will "surprise everyone."

"We need messengers to really capture that region - young, Hispanic, black, a cross section ," he explained. "We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-suburban hip-hop settings." Source: NY Daily News

This is really too funny. His intentions are good, but brother man, this is the same party whose Senators and congress people overwhelmingly did not support the Stimulus bill in any shape or form. This bill is targeted at helping middle class people in this country. The very same people Michael Steele wants to support the GOP. Didn't some conservative nutjobs call President Barack Obama out for his so-called association with some members of the Hip-Hop crowd? How quickly they forget. I must end on this note. It is safe to say that most Republicans scoff at the idea of hanging out with the "Hip-Hop" crowd, so I take Mr. Steele's comments with a grain of salt. This will go now where. He's in the wrong line of work. He ought to be an actor because that's all he is doing -- acting.
