BREAKING:  Ron Sparks, Alabama Agriculture Commissioner, defeats Rep. Artur Davis in Democratic gubernatorial primary in Alabama. Davis comes up short. Won't make history as the first black governor of Alabama. I am not surprised by the votes tonight. According to the Birmingham News, Davis didn't fare well in the black community, as voter turn-out was very low. It's funny that Sparks had once considered dropping out of the race, but decided to give it a second chance and Artur Davis campaigned hard and still came up empty.

Leighton Coke, AKA Levity, brother of wanted man Christopher "Dudus" Coke turns himself in to Jamaican police.

Is the Jamaican police getting closer to Christopher "Dudus" Coke? Well, they might just be. They nabbed a big one today -- Dudus' brother known as Leighton Coke, AKA Livity. He turned himself in to police this evening, according to the Jamaica Gleaner.

Livity was reportedly accompanied by Rev. Al Miller. Could someone please tell me why these hardened criminals always perpetrate a major fraud that they have just found Jesus?

Livity was named on a wanted list of gang leaders issued by the Jamaican police. It is my hope that Dudus will do the decent thing and turn himself in.

Shooting Wave Hits Baltimore Over Memorial Day Weekend, Carrollton Ridge Epicenter of Gun Violence

Baltimore took on the appearance of South Side Chicago with a barrage of gun shots over the Memorial Day weekend. There were three fatalities Sunday -- a double slaying in Carrollton Ridge Sunday night and one Sunday morning. According to the Baltimore Sun, the gun violence brought out an intense police presence that was being echoed in violent hot spots across the city, including McElderry Park in East Baltimore where two young men were shot within 45 minutes of one another Saturday night. Another man died Monday after suffering seven stab wounds. What in the world is going on?

Even with this weekend's violence, Baltimore's homicide tally is 79 for the year, significantly down from the 94 deaths at this time last year. Police said they have an arrest warrant in one fatal shooting and a person of interest in another, but haven't made any arrests.

Authorities said police seized nearly a dozen illegal guns on city streets since Friday. Still, shootings spared virtually no quadrant of the city, from Northeast to Southwest, in one of deadliest weekends in Baltimore this year. Source: Baltimore Sun

The criminal elements in our society have become emboldened to wreak havoc at any minute in the lives on innocent people. There are far too many guns on the streets all across this country. These guns are getting in the wrong hands and this trend will continue until something drastic is done.

BP Hires Former VP Dick Cheney's Press Secretary Anne Womack-Kolton as Spokeswoman

BP hires Dick Cheney's former press secretary, Anne Womack-Kolton to become its spokeswoman as company faces criminal investigation into destruction of Gulf of Mexico.

Former VP Dick Cheney's name has popped up once again in the matter of oil. According to Think Progress, BP has hired Ann Womack-Kolton, who served as Cheney's press secretary during the 2004 election, to become its spokeswoman. The company is facing a real possibility of being placed in receivership and a criminal investigation should be launched into how it has single-handedly wrecked the Gulf of Mexico. According to Think Progress,  Womack-Kolton has been hired to be “head of U.S. media relations.” She was a rising star in the Bush-Cheney White House since the 2000 campaign. She also ran public affairs in the Bush Department of Energy:

“Back in 2001-02 Anne Womack-Kolton defended Cheney’s secret energy task force,” Daily Kos contributor RL Miller writes. Cheney’s energy group met with several BP representatives, including a private meeting between Cheney and BP CEO John Browne. In 2007 Browne retired from BP “after lying to a court about his relationship with another man.”

With its stock spiralling, BP hired her away from the Brunswick Group, the international communications and crisis management firm which BP has been paying to “craft its public response to the spill.” Womack-Kolton joined the Brunswick Group in 2007 to manage “high stakes communications surrounding public affairs issues and political risk management for domestic and global corporate clients.” Source: Think Progress

This is a very interesting turn of events and it seems that you just can't seem to get Dick Cheney out of the mix where oil is concerned. The management of BP, Transocean and Halliburton should be brought up on criminal charges for this unspeakable act of destruction in the Gulf of Mexico.

Brown University's Handling of Rape Allegations Against Former Freshman William McCormick III Raises Red Flags

William McCormick III files federal lawsuit against Brown University alleging that administrators failed to investigate rape accusations against him before his expulsion.

There is a scandal brewing at Brown University and it's not pretty. William McCormick III, a champion wrestler from Wisconsin, was admitted to the Ivy League institution on a full scholarship. He lasted for only a few weeks at the university. He was accused in September 2006, of stalking, harassing and ultimately raping a female acquaintance. He claims the allegations are patently false, according to media reports, but was a full criminal investigation launched into the matter? The accuser (Marcella Beth Dresdale) was a third-generation legacy student who, when first reporting trouble with McCormick, also mentioned that her father was an "alum and a big supporter of Brown," according to the Associated Press. William McCormick has filed a federal lawsuit accusing Brown University of denying him the right to an investigation to determine if the accusations against him were true.

The day after the rape allegations were made, McCormick was called into a meeting with administrators, barred from campus and put on a flight home pending a disciplinary hearing. The following month, McCormick was gone for good. Before the hearing, he signed a confidential agreement – under pressure, he says, from a lawyer for the accuser's family – in which he agreed to withdraw from Brown. In exchange, the accuser agreed to let the matter drop.

A Brown administrator agreed to reflect on his transcript that he had withdrawn for "medical reasons" but also told him he was ineligible for readmission, even though he had never been found responsible for rape. McCormick transferred to Bucknell University, which says he's a student in good standing.

The school allowed the matter to be closed through a private contract instead of a traditional fact-finding hearing that could have vindicated McCormick or established that an assault had actually occurred. The arrangement was meant to provide a tidy outcome to a dispute fraught with emotion and wildly divergent accounts. Brown insists it acted properly. But a federal lawsuit from McCormick and e-mails reviewed by The Associated Press raise messy questions about the handling of the case. Source: Huffington Post

As far as I am concerned, an accused person is innocent until convicted in a court of law. The university didn't seem to take the right measures to get to the bottom of this problem. It seems to me that the leaders of Brown University, including President Ruth Simmons. This is clearly not what this university that prides itself on graduating enterprising minds, would possibly want to tarnish its image. Rape is a criminal offense and the allegations should have been treated as criminal and McCormick should have been arrested by the campus police. The university's handling of the matter has raised many red flags and I am glad a federal judge denied a dismissal of the case on their behalf. I hate to throw Ruth Simmons under a bus, because she has made history as the first black president of the Ivy League school, but if she knew exactly what transpired in this incident, then she deserves a lot of heat for her actions. The reality is that the lawsuit isn't “utter poppycock” as she said, it is about due process and handling such a delicate situation with finesse within the constraints of the law.

Jimmie Lewis Jr., Black NC Radio Personality, Claims He was Fired Because of His Views on Abortion

Jimmie Lewis Jr., longtime black radio personality in Fayetteville, NC, claims he was fired over his position on abortion.

Jimmie Lewis, Jr., a black local radio personality at WFNC in Fayetteville, NC, has been fired. According to Christian News Wire, Lewis was fired because he changed his position on abortion. He changed his position from pro-choice to pro-life after seeing the documentary Maafa 21 - Black Genocide in 21st Century America. The newswire is making the argument that his termination was racially motivated, even though we have a black president, there are certain pockets across the country that have a racial bias.

Lewis was perturbed by the expose' on the agenda of the eugenics movement led by elitists in the United States. He changed his position to pro-life after seeing how population control groups like Planned Parenthood is affecting the black population. He also helped a couple of local pastors, Bobby Fulmore and Johnny Hunter, with the national African-American pro-life organization, LEARN, promote the film, which has been shown in a Cumberland County Public Library.

Jimmie Lewis had served as the sound engineer and co-host on the daily program "Sound Off" which was a call-in program where locals could share their opinions on current issues. Many listeners enjoyed this program because all callers were valued. On Saturday, he hosted the "Swap Shop" where callers would list items to sell or buy. He also hosted Fayetteville Focus on community services and events. Jimmie Lewis let his audience know about his major shift.

Then, the radio station managers decided to change the format and broadcast a conservative radio personality out of Wilmington, North Carolina. Personnel at WFNC were shifted around. Another broadcaster was given "Swap Shop." So, the only black host at the station was the only one to lose his job. I placed a call in to the management of WFNC on their position on the matter. We have not had a response yet. I find it hard to believe that a station would drop a long-time fixture over his personal conviction, unless he was trying indoctrinate his listeners. It should be noted that the radio station has a conservative slant, so wouldn't his pro-life views be in keeping with their views?
