Rep. Brad Drake (R-FL) Introduces Bill to Bring Back Firing Squads After Conversation at Waffle House Restaurant

Rep. Brad Drake (R-FL) wants to bring back firing squads. He filed a bill this week that would end the use of lethal injection in Florida executions and those with death sentences could choose between electrocution or a firing squad. According to media reports, Drake said the idea came to him after having a conversation with a constituent at a Waffle House over the legal battles associated with the Sept. 28 execution of Manuel Valle, whose lawyers tried to stop the execution by arguing that a new lethal drug cocktail would cause him pain and therefore constitute cruel and unusual punishment. The courts rejected his arguments and the execution went forward. This is how dangerous many lawmakers have become in this country. Thanks to all the people who voted for him or failed to go out to vote for his opponent. We don't need anyone who dares to play judge and jury in the lives of people in this country. Besides, which legislator in their right mind would formulate and introduce a bill that could have a great impact on the state because of a conversation he had at Waffle House? Really? There is a serious problem in Florida, as with other states, on how they handle death penalty cases. Florida leads the nation with one of the highest exoneration rates. So, are they willing to allow the state to be embarrassed after killing an innocent person by firing squad?

Crystal Samuel Says Waffle House Waitress, Yakeisha Ward, Shot Her in Dispute Over Food

I guess going to Waffle House for a meal can be dangerous for patrons. Waffle House waitress Yakeisha Ward, 29, has been charged with assault and battery with intent to kill. She is accused of getting into an altercation with customer, Crystal Samuel, over the patron's friends eating from the carry-out tray inside the restaurant. Waffle House is no stranger to controversy. In the state of Georgia, they have been accused of racism towards black patrons. This certainly isn't the type of publicity the company wants to get at this time.

Miss Samuel said, "I thought I was gonna get me an All-Star," says Samuel. A popular meal on the menu. "Grits, sausage, toast, eggs and a waffle," says Samuel. She didn't get what she came for. Instead, she said while she waited for her order, her friends started eating. That's when Samuel said she was told they couldn't eat from carryout trays inside the restaurant.

"I said what is your fuss about. I said we haven't paid for our food. She (Ward) said well you all got to leave. How you want us to leave and we ain't paid for the food yet," says Samuel.

That's when it got ugly. Samuel says she threw a waffle at the waitress. "I did actually throw some food but it didn't hit her," says Samuel. "That's when she (Ward) jumped across the counter and we got into it," says Samuel. Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett says the altercation continued outside where he says Ward got a gun from her car and a gun magazine from her trunk. Source: WLTX

So, is this the only way Ms. Ward could resolve a conflict, to pull a gun? Investigators have reportedly said Ward's gun discharged during the altercation. A bullet fragment struck Samuel in the arm. So, this woman will find herself in prison for being stupid. Since when did we revert to the days of the Wild, wild West? A blooming idiot is discovered every day.
