Hispanic Group, Democracia Ahora, Tells to CNN to Rein in Lou Dobbs

I applaud the Hispanic community for coming out in full force against the hatred being spewed by Lou Dobbs on a daily basis on CNN. Democracia Ahora is kicking off an effort Friday with the release of a report based on interviews with 100 Hispanic leaders about the impact of Dobbs’ evening show. They are calling on CNN to rein in Dobbs. Better yet, they should just fire him and that goes for people like Glenn Beck and yes, the leader of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh, who have been making divisive and inflammatory comments on a daily basis. I am glad that the Latinos and many African Americans are taking a stand against such bigotry and obvious racism. We should be moving forward and being a beacon of hope for the world to emulate, not stepping backwards into the darkest periods in American history.
According to the report, 90 percent of the people interviewed believe Dobbs is helping create a negative image of Hispanics, with his frequent criticisms of illegal immigration. But Democracia Ahora is hoping the report inspires a grassroots movement aimed at executives at CNN’s parent company, Time Warner, to draw attention to what the group calls “frequent negative portrayals of Hispanics on the Lou Dobbs show.” It is using its release to start a national campaign, “Enough is Enough!” that will be carried out through www.TellCNNEnoughisEnough.com, that goes live Friday.

“We’re asking CNN, the alleged ‘most trusted name in news,’ to really hold Lou Dobbs to the journalistic standards he should be held to,” said Jorge Mursuli, president of Democracia Ahora, who expressed frustration with Dobbs’ reports that immigration contributed to thousands of new reported cases of leprosy and of a ‘superhighway’ from Mexico to Canada.

“CNN needs to take responsibility for what he’s saying,” he said, adding, “We want CNN to insure that Lou Dobbs is going to stick with the facts. He can have his opinions but he can’t present his opinions as facts.” Mursuili said Democracia Ahora will be coordinating petitions and encouraging other Hispanic groups to make phone calls and write letters to CNN asking the news station to “to cease the daily drum roll of misinformation and offensive commentary about the Latino community on the Lou Dobbs Tonight show.” Source: Politico
We should hold these media outlets accountable for the content of their broadcasts, just as much as we should hold our elected officials accountable for their actions. People like Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Michael Savage, Laura Ingraham, Pat and Bay Buchanan, and all the other hatemongers must be held accountable for their actions. There is a big difference between being fair and balanced and pushing hateful rhetoric. The reality is that there are many people who believe the garbage they are spewing and we are seeing many on the fringe acting on the lies they are hearing in the media. It could turn violent and get really ugly if something drastic isn't done.

Lou Dobbs: Obama was "Trying to Indoctrinate our Kids" During Speech to Students

Could someone please tell me how President Obama was trying to indoctrinate students during his back-to-school speech today at Wakefield High School? Conservative nutjob and "pharmacy hopper" Rush Limbaugh weighed in, literally and figuratively with his two cents: Limbaugh: "[T]his speech to the kids today about personal responsibility ... it's a trick, it's a scam, and it's a joke"

Lou Dobbs Ratings in Downward Spiral Due to Birther Controversy about President Obama's Birth Citizenship

CNN's Lou Dobbs, idiot extraordinaire, is seeing the effects of his ridiculous rants about President Obama's citizenship. His ratings are falling and I hope CNN chief Jon Klein will get the message that viewers don't want to hear that BS. This "birther" madness needs to stop because it is nothing but a huge lie and a distraction. You will recall that Klein, after initially attempting to put Dobbs in check in  an email that read, "It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef." Yeah, but the drama continued as Lou Dobbs dug himself into a deeper hole, much like Glenn Beck, that idiot on Fox News, who said President Obama, a bi-racial man, was racist. This past week, Klein, on a panel discussion at the Television Critics Association press tour, argued that Dobbs was beyond his control so long as he was using the forum of his radio show. Right. Now The New York Observer's Felix Gillette crunches the numbers, and Dobbs is swallowing a really bitter pill.
Mr. Dobbs' first began reporting on Obama birth certificate conspiracy theories on the night of Wednesday, July 15. In the roughly two weeks since then, from July 15 through July 28, Mr. Dobbs' 7 p.m. show on CNN has averaged 653,000 total viewers and 157,000 in the 25-54 demo.

By contrast, during the first two weeks of the month (July 1 to July 14) Mr. Dobbs averaged 771,000 total viewers and 218,000 in the 25-54 demo. In other words, Mr. Dobbs' audience has decreased 15 percent in total viewers and 27 percent in the demo since the start of the controversy. Source: NY Observer
Good, let Dobbs keep digging himself and CNN into a deeper hole. Several liberal media watchdog groups, including Media Matters and MoveOn.org, the Southern Poverty Law Center have petitioned CNN to fire Mr. Dobbs for repeatedly providing a forum to conspiracy theorists who believe, against all evidence, that the president was not born in the United States. There are so many more important issues that Dobbs could use his show to discuss, but he decided to get down in the muck with the extremists and some Republicans to keep this ridiculous side show going.  I would hope Mr. Dobbs will come to the realization that he isn't indispensable and he isn't the moral compass of the United States of America.

CNN's Lou Dobbs Fans Flames of Birther Controversy, Says President Obama May be "Undocumented"

CNN host Lou Dobbs is a little too self-righteous for me and has elevated himself as the moral compass of the Independents in this country. Yesterday on his radio show, he contributed in a big way to keeping alive this ridiculous conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama is not an American citizen. He speculated on his radio show that Obama may be undocumented:

"I'm starting to think we have a document issue. You suppose he's un... no, I won't even use the word undocumented, it wouldn't be right."

According to Think Progress, Dobbs agreed with a caller that Obama's presidency and actions as president could be deemed "illegal." To learn more about Lou Dobbs and the birther movement here. Really Lou? What else do you want President Obama to do to prove that he is a natural born American citizen? Show a tape of his birth or bring his mother back from the dead through a seance? Wait, isn't Lou Dobbs much older than President Obama, how does his birth certificate look? Does he even have a birth certificate? This is ridiculous and much ado about nothing and a total waste of time.
