West Memphis Police Officers Brandon Paudert & Bill Evans, Fatally Shot During Traffic Stop

Two West Memphis, AR, police officers were shot and killed Thursday during a traffic stop. Officer Brandon Paudert, 39, son of West Memphis Police Chief Bob Paudert, was shot in the back of the head, according to WTVM. The other officer who died is being reported as Bill Evans.
The shooting happened late Thursday morning near Interstate 40 and Airport Road.  The suspect or suspects in the shooting are still at large.  Police are searching for a vehicle with an Ohio license plate in connection to the shooting.  Both the I-40 and I-55 bridges into Memphis have been closed as officials search for the car.
According to the Commercial Appeal, Crittenden County sheriff Dick Busby and his chief of patrol, W.A. Wren were later shot in a second encounter with the suspects in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store. The two suspects were later shot and wounded when officers exchanged fire with the occupants of a van believed allegedly occupied by the perpetrators. Memphis television station WMC is reporting that two suspects were killed. Officials have said a third suspect was involved in the incident.

Officers Paudert and Evans were assigned to the West Memphis Police Department's drug interdiction unit. This is a sad turn of events.

Off-Duty Police Officer Thomas Wortham IV Fatally Shot in South Side Chicago Neighborhood

Chicago off-duty Officer Thomas Wortham IV was gunned down at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday as he was leaving his parents' home off South King Drive. According to the Chicago Sun Times, he was approached by several men who tried to steal his motorcycle. His father, who is a retired Chicago police officer, shot two of the suspects, killing one and wounding the other, police said.
Officer Wortham was shot in the head in the ensuing gunfire. He reportedly died shortly after midnight at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Charges are pending against the injured dirtbag.  It is utterly reprehensible that this man survived two tours of duty in Iraq, only to die in his own city.

Wortham was single and a graduate of Brother Rice High School and had been with the Chicago Police Department for three years, according to police Supt. Jody Weis. He’d been on furlough since returning from his latest military service, said Gushes. She said he was proud to be a cop and proud to serve his community.

His death was even harder to deal with, Gushes said, because “this is the second young officer we’ve lost within a short period of time, and we’re going to have to dig deep within ourselves to get through this.” Officer Alejandro “Alex” Valadez, 27, who’d also been a Chicago cop for three years, was shot and killed in the line of duty last June. Valadez, who also came from a family of police officers, was a graduate of Brother Rice, like Wortham. Source: Sun Times
I don't hear our so-called civil rights leaders screaming for justice over this death. This is a tragedy. When will the gun violence and crime be reined in.

Judge Issues Warrant for Arrest of Lindsay Lohan Over Missed Court Appearance

I usually don't write about show business, but I am appalled at the double standard when actors, actresses and others break the law. They are given a slap on the wrist, when a person of average or little means would be locked away in prison for a while. Enter  Lindsay Lohan and her repeated offenses.

A judge has issued a warrant for her arrest after she missed a mandatory hearing Thursday. You see, she claims her passport is lost and she is stuck in Cannes, France. First of all, who's going to steal her passport or did it just conveniently go missing? Most people would literally be on edge knowing they have a court hearing, much less deliberately miss one.

Lindsay Lohan's bail was set at $100,000. I hope the judge throws the book at her. How many people get a slap on the wrist repeatedly? There is a culture of entitlement among the so-called stars. This woman needs to get help or she is going to end up like Anna Nicole Smith -- dead. Lindsay Lohan should be incarcerated. Maybe then she will get the message.

Rand Paul Says It's OK for Private Businesses to Discriminate, Criticizes Civil Rights Act of 1964

Seems like Kentucky Tea Party candidate Rand Paul doesn't know very much about racial discrimination and what the Civil Rights Act of 1964 really stood for. Last night on the "Rachel Maddow Show" he basically offered up a lot of BS. He is okay with a private business discriminating against blacks and other racial backgrounds.

Drudge Report Takes Swipe at First Lady Michelle Obama's Attire at State Dinner for Mexican President

Matt Drudge and his rightwing website are at it again. Once again, he has set his sights in First Lady Michelle Obama. Featured prominently is Mrs. Obama in a beautiful gown worn yesterday at the state dinner for Mexico's President. Drudge tries to take a slap at her dress with the caption "sex in the city." How disgusting. Too bad they can't handle a vivacious and sexy First Lady. Barbara Bush was the frumpiest of them all.
