President Obama's Aunt, Zeituni Onyango, Granted Asylum by U.S. Immigration Court

President Barack Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, has been granted asylum by U.S. immigration court in Cleveland, OH. Ms. Onyango, a Kenyan native, will be allowed to stay in the U.S.A. Er, sounds like this was done because her nephew is the president. According to media reports, the decision was mailed Friday and came three months after she testified at a closed hearing in Boston, where she arrived in a wheelchair and two doctors testified in support of her case.

When I think asylum, I am thinking of someone who is facing persecution in their country on the basis of their religion, race, nationality, political persuasion, among other things. Gee, let's see, what could this woman be scared of if she had to go home? Ridicule? Her attorney, Margaret Chong, said in a media interview, that Onyango first applied for asylum "due to violence in Kenya." During an interview with the Associated Press in November, Onyango said she was disabled and was learning to walk again after being paralyzed from Guillain-Barre syndrome, an autoimmune disorder. Wow, I wonder what her new claim for asylum was

Ms. Onyango moved to the United States in 2000. Her first asylum request was rejected, and she was ordered deported in 2004. Guess what? She didn't leave. She continued to stay in the country illegally and lived in public housing in Boston, taking from taxpayers. Sorry, she found favor because of her famous relative -- Barack Obama.
