Actors Will Smith & Samuel L. Jackson being considered for upcoming Quentin Tarantino film "Django Unchained" which pits freed slave Smith & against house slave, Jackson, as he tries to find his wife.
The word on the street is that Will Smith is the front-runner to star in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film, "
Django Unchained," which is about a freed slave turned gunslinger in search of his wife. He's also eying Christoph Waltz to play Django's sidekick, a German bounty hunter whose aim is to take down an evil plantation owner. It is also being rumored that Samuel L. Jackson would play the house slave to the "evil" guy, Monsieur Calvin Candie. As expected, the house slave is being billed as an expert manipulator who will face off with Django. How predictable. Yawn. On a serious note, Tarantino ticked off a lot of people with the frequency with which the word n*gger was used in "Pulp Fiction" and this movie promises to be just as controversial. Nothing like stirring up a hornet's nest all in the name of money, right? Of course, let's not forget Denzel Washington went on to win two Oscar Awards (Best supporting Actor Oscar for
Glory (1989) and his Best Actor Oscar was for
Training Day (2001), in roles that used the n-word profusely. Our standards are now so low that anything goes. According to the
Hollywood Reporter, nothing is set in stone and Tarantino is aiming for a possible fall shoot in Louisiana.
