Atlanta Pastor Alex Williams Facing Aggravated Assault Charges After Shooting 13 YO for Breaking Van Window

Atlanta pastor Alex Williams fires .38 revolver & shoots 13 year old in hip after teens throw rocks & breaks van window, cites repeated damage to church as reason for actions.

Bishop Alex Williams, senior pastor of Mechanicsville United Church of God in Christ in Atlanta, is charged with aggravated assault after shooting a 13 year old teen, who broke his van window Saturday night. According to WSB-TV, police said some teens threw rocks through the pastor's van and he pulled out a .38 revolver and started shooting, hitting the teen in the hip.
Friends said Williams was tired of repeated damage to his church. “I don’t' know if they are trying to run him out of this area because he's trying to get rid of the drugs,” Travis Gordon said.

Channel 2’s Tony Thomas interviewed Williams in January after his church caught fire. He believed it was arson. “It's almost like starting over again,” Williams told Thomas at the time.

While I don't condone violence, I can fully understand what drove this pastor to such irrational behavior. The parents of these young thugs need to be held responsible for their parenting skills. Well, the lack thereof. I have a 13 year old and the last thing he would do is throw stones at vehicles. The bottomline is that the kid could have been killed over something so ridiculous. Parents, find constructive things for your kids to do. As the adult in this situation, why didn't Pastor Williams go to the police department to seek some assistance in dealing with these kids? He is being held at the Fulton County Jail and scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday morning.
