Patrolman Derek Kotecki fatally shot "ambush style" by wanted man, Charles Arthur Post, who was later killed by responding officers in Lower Burrell, Pa.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Patrolman Derek Kotecki, who served with the Lower Burrell Police Department, Penn. He was shot and killed while investigating reports of a wanted man at a local fast food restaurant Wednesday evening. According to Officer Down Memorial Page, the man, identified as Charles Arthur Post, was wanted for a shooting 10 days earlier and for threatening police officers during the previous week.The suspect was shot and killed by responding officers after fleeing the scene of the Patrolman Kotecki's shooting. Patrolman Kotecki, who served with the Lower Burrell Police Department for 18 years, is survived by a wife and two kids.
Gov. Tom Corbett has ordered all Pennsylvania flags at the Capitol complex and at commonwealth facilities in Westmoreland County be lowered to half-staff in honor of the fallen police officer.
