The Associated Press slams President Obama's jobs bill pitch, saying it's based on two realities: one in his speeches and one playing out in Washington D.C., as his poll numbers sink to new low, with 51% of Americans saying no to his reelection.
Even the Associated Press is taking President Obama to task on his jobs bill. I guess the love affair the right wing claims the media has with Obama is gone. The AP's scathing article, which says President Obama's sales pitch for his jobs bill is based on two versions of reality -- one in his speeches and one playing out in Washington D.C. Yeah, he's having a heckuva time with his own party. Um, the thrill is gone......
When Obama accuses Republicans of standing in the way of his nearly $450 billion plan, he ignores the fact that his own party has struggled to unite behind the proposal.
When the president says Republicans haven’t explained what they oppose in the plan, he skips over the fact that Republicans who control the House actually have done that in detail.
And when he calls on Congress to “pass this bill now,” he slides past the point that Democrats control the Senate and were never prepared to move immediately, given other priorities. Senators are expected to vote Tuesday on opening debate on the bill, a month after the president unveiled it with a call for its immediate passage.
To be sure, Obama is not the only one engaging in rhetorical excesses. But he is the president, and as such, his constant remarks on the bill draw the most attention and scrutiny.
The disconnect between what Obama says about his jobs bill and what stands as the political reality flow from his broader aim: to rally the public behind his cause and get Congress to act, or, if not, to pin blame on Republicans.
He is waging a campaign, one in which nuance and context and competing responses don‘t always fit in if they don’t help make the case. Source
Dang, the AP zinged President Obama pretty bad. I recall him saying on the 2008 campaign trail that he may be skinny but he can take the punches. Well, that time is now Mr. President. Let's see what you are really made of. Are you going to act like you are the president of the most powerful country in the world, or continue to come across as weak and vacillating? We can't continue to play pin the tail on the donkey with the livelihood of millions of Americans on the line. Either you are going to work for the people who sent you to Washington D.C., or you need to step aside for another candidate to run against one of the equally weak GOP candidates vying for the nomination.
Is President Obama losing it since he's allegedly now talking to portraits of other presidents in the White House?
The president’s workdays are said to end early, often at 4 p.m. He usually has dinner in the family residence with his wife and daughters, then retreats to a private office. One person said he takes a stack of briefing books. Others aren’t sure what he does. If the reports are accurate, and I believe they are, they paint a picture of an isolated man trapped in a collapsing presidency. While there is no indication Obama is walking the halls of the White House late at night, talking to the portraits of former presidents, as Richard Nixon did during Watergate, the reports help explain his odd public remarks. In other words, President Obama is a dead man walking and his presidency is essentially over before he really began, right? Well, we will see how this plays out come November 2012. I am not sold on any of the Republican candidates. They can't do any better for this country, no matter how much sh*t they sell the public. As for Congress, the Republicans shouldn't be singing praises to Obama's
plunging poll numbers because their's aren't much better.
