NYPD Recruit Sherman Abrams Dies During Training Run Along East River in Manhattan

Sherman Abrams, a NYPD recruit, died after collapsing during a training run along the East River in Manhattan about 5:40 p.m. Monday. According to the NY Daily News, Abrams, 28, and other recruits were running between E. 14th and Houston Streets, police said. He was a correction officer for four years prior to entering the Police Academy in July. An autopsy is pending, which will hopefully determine the cause of death.
