Bronx Teen Jose Webster Fatally Shot While Walking Girlfriend Home, No Suspect in Custody

Bronx teen Jose Webster was fatally shot while walking his girlfriend, Aniik Wallace, home Thursday evening.

According to the NY Post, the teens, both 16, were approached by two men on Teller Avenue, near East 168th Street, at about 8:50 p.m. The two men allegedly started a fight with them, ending with Jose Webster being fatally shot in the chest by one of the assailants, the newspaper said. Police have not released a description of the gunman or his accomplice. How many more of our young people have to die before something is done to curb the number of guns on the streets?

Aniik Wallace said Jose Webster was trying to turn his life around, which tells me he may have had some issues with the law or connections with unsavory people. Many communities are being destroyed by black-on-black crime. We can't go on killing one another. In any case, he didn't deserve to be gunned down in the streets. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
