Jamaican Immigrant Otis Stone Files $10 Million Lawsuit Alleging JFK Cop Lt. Jack Ryan Discriminated Against His Eatery
Otis Stone, a Jamaican immigrant, sued Lt. Jack Ryan, a Port Authority cop, who he alleged went on a vicious campaign to run a JFK Airport restaurant out of business by harassing and discriminating against him, according to a $10 million lawsuit.
Stone, 42, said the trouble began two years ago when he sought a liquor license for Chef's Orchid Restaurant, located in a cargo building and catering mostly to airport personnel. He said Ryan interfered and then became enraged when Stone went over his head for the license.
The harassment was subtle at first, such as calling Stone's restaurant "the 'hood" and his cuisine "black food," the suit says, but then Ryan forced him to shut down for 30 days after a small fire.
And he later arrested Stone and issued summonses for illegal bottle clubbing and warehousing, according to the suit. Stone believes the power play was backed by the PA, to get him out of his space though his lease won't expire until next year. Source
