Detroit Police to Increase Shifts After 16 People Shot, Seven Fatally in 24 Hour Span
Detroit police will increase shifts to 12 hours Monday after a weekend filled with gun violence. According to media reports, 16 people were shot, six fatally between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday. Mayor Dave Bing said, "Reducing violent crime is our number one priority.""Our community must continue to work with us to stop this kind of violence. Every resident deserves to be safe and feel safe in their neighborhood."
