James Craig Anderson, who is black, was killed when two young white men - Deryl Dedmon & accomplice John Aaron Rice - drove into him with a pick-up truck in Jackson, Mississippi on June 26. According to the Daily Mail, the young men, both 18, were allegedly looking for a black man to assault and one of the men, Deryl Dedmon, even bragged about Mr. Anderson's murder, the prosecutor said.
Mr Anderson was run over by a Ford pickup outside a Jackson hotel near dawn on June 26 and died later in hospital, District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith said during a bond hearing for Deryl Dedmon, who is accused of driving the truck.Well, Mississippi was no place for blacks during the civil rights struggle and it is still not a place for blacks when you have white trash like Deryl Dedmon still roaming the streets. Dedmon's bail was increased to $800,000 from $50,000 by Judge Ali Shamsiddeen after he heard more about the hate-crime allegations. We know this POS will sit in prison because he can't make bail. It's also amazing that this story didn't make the U.S. mainstream media.
‘Dedmon murdered this victim because he was a black man,’ Smith said. ‘We do have information that they were rejoicing after killing the victim.’
Smith said Dedmon called a friend after the alleged crime and said: ‘I just ran that nigger over.’ He added: ‘It was an intentional act and it was a hate crime.’
The hate crime allegations resonated in Mississippi, which has a history for racial violence against blacks, particularly during the civil rights struggle. Source: Daily Mail
UPDATE#1 (08/07/11): Finally, CNN has devoted some attention to the murder of James Craig Anderson at the hands of two white teens - Deryl Dedmon and John Aaron Rice, who were hellbent on killing a black man at any costs.
