Oneida County NY Deputy Sheriff Kurt Wyman Shot & Killed During Domestic Disturbance Stand-Off

Oneida County deputy sheriff Kurt Wyman was shot and killed during a standoff stemming from a domestic disturbance call in Knoxboro, NY. The suspect, Chris Patterson, 41, is listed in critical condition after being shot several times.

Officers responded to the scene of a domestic disturbance at approximately 9:00 pm when the man barricaded himself in his garage with a firearm. Negotiators were attempting to get the man to surrender when he opened fire on them at approximately 2:00 am, killing Deputy Wyman. The suspect was also shot in the exchange of gunfire. Source

Deputy Wyman, 24, leaves behind one child and a pregnant wife, whose due-date was ironically the day he was killed. Patterson allegedly tried to kill his live-in girlfriend and himself, the Oneida Dispatch said.
