NYC NAACP leader Hazel Dukes tells Bronx parent Janette Ramos she's "doing business of slave masters" in response to her opposition to the civil rights group's lawsuit against expanding charter schools & doing away with failing public schools.
New York City
NAACP leader
Hazel Dukes invoked "
slave masters" in defending the
civil rights organization's lawsuit against city plans to expand charter schools. She sent an email blasting a pro-charter-school parent from the Bronx as "doing the business of slave masters." The woman who wrote the e-mail was a Hispanic woman,
Janette Ramos, according to the New York Post. What's shocking is that the NAACP is fighting to keep black and Hispanic children in failing schools. The
NAACP has lost its edge and is little more than a laughingstock.
Dukes made the stunning attack in response to a Hispanic woman who wrote a heartfelt letter urging the civil-rights leader to pull the NAACP out of a lawsuit aimed at blocking the expansion or co-location of 19 charters in city school buildings. "If you and the NAACP continue on this horrible lawsuit against my daughter's school and the fellow 18 charter schools," Janette Ramos said, "it will not be the best legacy to leave behind." Ramos's daughter attends kindergarten at Bronx Success Academy charter school.
Dukes issued a terse response.
"You are not a member of the NAACP and don't understand that you are doing the business of slave masters," Dukes said in a June 1 response. Ramos said Dukes should step down as New York chapter president of the NAACP for using such language. Source: NY Post
The
NAACP has lost its legitimacy and this is the prime reason why, they still condemn anyone who doesn't agree with their viewpoints. Why on earth would they want to be viewed as fighting against schools that would benefit black students far better than the current system in place that has led to these schools failing the students? Who has the slave mentality?
