Nigerian citizen, was convicted on charges she brought two women into the U.S. from Nigeria to serve as
modern-day slaves in her upscale Suwanee and Sugar Hill, Ga., homes. She was convicted on two counts of
forced labor, two counts of
trafficking for forced labor, one count of
alien harboring, two counts of making false statements in a
naturalization application and one count of "
document servitude" for taking her victims passports and government documents to prevent them from leaving, the
Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. Bello recruited the women to work as nannies. Sentencing is scheduled for August 24 with
U.S. District Judge Bill Duffey presiding. She faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on one count and up to 10 on others. She will be stripped of her U.S. citizenship and deported back to Nigeria when she has served her sentence.
