Swedish Soccer Team Made up of 8 Year Olds Suspended After Parents Attack Referees Over Questionable Decision

SHAME: Kids' team suspended after parents attack referee - The Local. It is a sad commentary that some parents just cannot conduct themselves with tact and decency when they are on the sidelines watching their children's soccer games. This isn't just happening in Sweden. This hooliganism on the part of parents occur right here in the U.S. as well. I have gone to my kids games and have heard parents on the sidelines freaking out when the refs make bad calls. Yes, I agree that it's nerve-wracking when the refs don't do their jobs, but does it really rise to the level of verbally assailing and, in some cases, physically attacking them? No. What happened in Sweden is as much a disgrace as what occurred last year at United Futbol Association when a parent hit a referee during a tournament. That's just uncalled for and bordering on criminal behavior if you ask me.
An entire team of eight-year-old footballers in Malmö in southern Sweden has been suspended from competition after several parents chased a teenage referee around the pitch to register their disgust over a decision. Source
What a lesson to the kids on the team -- you are being punished for the actions of some of your parents. It isn't fair to penalize the kids for what happened. The parents involved should be banned for sitting on the sidelines at their kids games. Simple.
