Ghana's reggae star Blakk Rasta hits President Obama on Libyan war and says he should "put on your African thinking cap and invoke the spirit of Africana."
Blakk Rasta's new album, "Born Dread," specifically the song, "I Cry-Libyan War," is a stark contrast to his "Barack Obama" song two years ago in which he lauded Obama with a lot of praise. Ghana's reggae star Blakk Rasta is singing another tune and decrying the Libyan war and calling for Obama to "put on your African thinking cap and invoke the spirit of [Africania].” The song also talks about how “government prefers to spend on beauty contests and bikini shows relegating the children, our future leaders, to the background.” "Barack inna trouble, why?" The tune is really catchy, but I certainly don't agree with the lyrics. How can Obama be expected to put on his African thinking cap when he was never raised with an African influence in his home. Besides, exactly what is an African thinking cap? He called the war in Libyan a hypocritical one. No mention of the injustices perpetrated on his people by Moammar Gadhafi. He contends the war is all about oil and not about the treatment of the Libyan people. He called on Obama not to invoke the satanic spirit of Ronald Reagan, say what? With the release of this song, I guess President Obama won't be hugging Blakk Rasta should their paths cross again.Watch the video:
