Gov. Rick Perry Once Fought to Keep Confederate Symbols at Texas Supreme Court Building

More racist-tinged skeletons keep popping out of Gov. Rick Perry's closet. Now comes word that he once opposed the removal ot two plaques honoring the Confederacy from the Texas Supreme Court. This opposition occurred during his stint as lieutenant governor and he reportedly said states should honor their history and decide on appropriate displays.
The Texas governor at the time, George W. Bush, also initially defended the plaques but later ordered them to be replaced. Governor Perry's position on commemorating the Confederacy has been repeated in letters over the years to Confederate heritage groups. Source
Even the Texas chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans are commending Gov. Perry for his stance on the Confederate symbols. Um, once again Rick Perry has shown little regard for what racial sensitivity really means.
