Why can't some parents just allow kids to be kids during recreational sports? According to WSB-TV, two youth football teams in Carrollton, Ga., are serving suspensions after parents tried to fight the young players on the field. At Saturday's game for 11-12 year olds, things turned violent when parents from the Carroll County team rush onto the field to fight the kids of the opposing team. Um, adults gone wild.
My kids play soccer at a local club in metro Atlanta and we have gone to games where parents on the opposing teams have literally lost their minds shouting and yelling at kids and the referees. We haven't had any fights break out, but one parent slapped a referee at one tournament. This is crazy. These are the same parents who wonder why their children end up becoming young thugs. Um, they learn it at home. Until the victims start pressing charges against these adult bullies, they will continue to engage in rowdy behavior at youth recreational games.
