Texana Hollis, 101, Evicted from Southwest Detroit Home, After Son Fails to Pay Property Taxes for Up to Seven Years

Elderly Detroit woman, Texana Hollis, evicted from house she has called home for the last 58 years and her possessions thrown in a dumpster, because her son didn't pay the property taxes for up to seven years, even though the city sent repeated notices.

DISGRACE: Texana Hollis, 101, was evicted from her Detroit home because her 65 year old loser of a son, Warren, failed to pay the property taxes on her home for years, despite repeated notices from the city. It is a real low-down dirty shame that this elderly woman was kicked out on the streets and her stuff tossed in a dumpster because of her son's negligence. I can't bring myself to blame the city for its action because they sent repeated notices. You can't ignore your property tax bill or they will sell your house right out from under you. The stress of what happened to Texana Hollis is going to take a toll on her and possibly lead to her demise.

According to the Daily Mail, Hollis has lived in the house for 58 years and I can just imagine how she felt watching the bailiffs throw her possessions in a dumpster. Her son should be ashamed of himself for even having the nerve to say he knew about the eviction, "but didn't want to worry her." Um, what did you think would happen? The city would move her into a five-star hotel for your negligence? The Daily Mail is reporting that a local business man is looking into purchasing the property from the city and moving her back into her home to live out the rest of her days in dignity. I hope he succeeds. There's a name for people like Warren -- POS.

I am also sure the city knew who owned the property and could make an educated guess that she was elderly at this juncture. Therefore, they could have shown some leniency for her sake, even though her son's negligence ultimately led to this mess.
