No matter how you spin it, President Barack Obama inherited one f*cked up economy, with no end in sight.
FROM REUTERS - The poverty rate in the United States climbed to 15.1 percent last year as the number of impoverished Americans swelled to a record 46.2 million, the U.S. government said on Tuesday.
In a report that underscores the daunting economic challenges facing President Barack Obama and Congress, the Census Bureau said median income fell 2.3 percent from 2009 to 2010 while the number of Americans without health insurance hovered near the 50 million mark.
To put it in the proper perspective, that's one in six people living in poverty in the U.S. That's bad, really bad. More than one-fifth, or 22 percent, of the children in the U.S. live in poverty, according to a U.S. Census report:
"Income, Poverty & Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2010."The poverty rate for children rose from 20.7 percent in 2009 to 22 percent last year, making kids more likely than any other age group to be poor. For children under the age of 6, the picture is even bleaker--25.3 percent of them lived in poverty last year. Overall, 15 percent of Americans were poor last year, the highest rate since 1993.
