President Obama considers Rep. Anthony Weiner sexting and lewd photo scandal a distraction, White House hints that he should resign but is this their dogfight?
The
White House has stooped low and entered the debate about embattled
Rep. Anthony Weiner's fate. Personally, I think that was the wrong move for the White House to make. Yes it is a distraction, but the
Democratic House and Senate leadership, as well as the leadership of the
Democratic National Committee, have spoken. There was no need for the White House to wade in this controversy, especially since
President Obama has bigger issues to worry about -- jobs, gas prices, foreclosure rates, debt ceiling, budget, etc.
"The President feels, we feel at the White House, this is a distraction, as Congressman Weiner has said himself, his behavior was inappropriate," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. "Dishonesty was inappropriate."
Sorry, but this is between
Rep. Weiner and his
constituents.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Sen. Harry Reid and
Rep. Steve Israel have already called for his resignation, why is the White House getting involved? This isn't their dogfight.
