Weinergate Continues as Delaware Police Launch Probe into Direct Online Communication Rep. Anthony Weiner Allegedly Had with 17 YO Student

Weinergate lives another day. Delaware police have launched an investigation into allegations that Rep. Anthony Weiner had direct online communication with a 17 year old student. Not good, but we'll see how this shakes out. Literally and figuratively.

According to Fox News, the New Castle County Police Department arrived at the girl's home around 4:30pm and asked to speak with the girl's mother about the daughter's contact with Weiner. Sources close to the student told Fox that the 17-year-old saw the congressman speak during a school trip to Washington and decided to follow him on Twitter.

Weiner, after signing on to follow the girl's Twitter feed, direct-messaged the girl on April 13, the sources said, though it is not clear what other communication the two may have had between or after those dates and what exactly was sent between them.

The news comes on the same day that it was revealed the disgraced congressman cannot quit because he cannot afford to due to credit card debts and having nothing to fall back on should he lose his $156,117 salary. Source: Daily Mail

UPDATE#1: There are some loud rumblings coming from the senior leadership of the Democratic party and Congress for Rep. Weiner to resign -- Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Steve Israel. Weiner is digging in, though there are rumors that he will be entering a treatment facility of some sort. Er, couldn't he have gone into "rehab" the moment the story broke?
