MS Gov. Haley Barbour Says Obama Administration Good for Wall Street, Bad for Main Street & Deliberately Driving Up Energy Costs

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour blames Obama Administration for recession on Main Street and says he's deliberately driving up energy costs.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is taking swipes at the Obama Administration in a big way -- blaming the Obama Administration for the recession on Main Street and deliberately driving up energy prices so Americans would use less of it. He appeared on "Face the Nation" Sunday morning and said the policies of this administration are bad for the economy. Said it is very hard to tell the difference for small businesses even though banks have made a lot of money. He said when he took office gas was about $1.80 a gallon and now it's up to $4 a gallon. Bob Schieffer told Barbour that he was the first to say Obama has driven up energy prices on purpose. He said in 2008, Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap and trade plan electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. He asked why would he put a cap and trade tax that would drive up costs because it means we would less electricity, etc. He said energy is the life blood of the economy.

He said the key for the 2012 election campaign is about President Obama and his policies. He seems to like Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Sarah Palin, both of whom are very polarizing. Schieffer asked him if he could support a ticket with Sarah Palin on it. He said if Barack Obama could be on a ticket, then he could support Sarah Palin. Right. He literally called Barack Obama a nobody. Golden. It should be noted that he has no qualms about taxes being raised on the middle class.

Barbour said he didn't run for the presidency because "he has to be 100 percent committed to the most time consuming job in the whole world." He said he didn't have that "fire in the belly" and it's not fair to the people who want to put you there. Really? Nah. The real reason is that he would be called out on his state's racist past and his questionable associations, among other things.

I must also note that Schieffer was very tough on Minority Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. I found her to be waffling, without a plan to lower unemployment rates, concrete plan to keep Medicare solvent past the next 10 years, among other things. So, she has no 11 year plan for Medicare. I've never been a fan of Nancy Pelosi and this is the prime reason why -- no concrete solutions.
