Brian Keith Comer, a student at
Ola High School in McDonough, Ga., was killed Saturday when he was shot in the head by another teen. Two teens are in police custody while the investigators try to ascertain what really happened. According to the
Atlanta Journal Constitution, Comer was reportedly with the two other teens at a Locust Grove home at the time of the shooting. Police said the victim and the other teen were staying at the home without permission. A third teem was visiting the other two at the home Saturday night. Okay, this all sounds like a jumbled mess. The person who owned the home was out of town, the newspaper said.
The shooting was initially reported as being self-inflicted, but investigators determined that was not the case. The surviving teens told police they had been playing with the gun and pointing it at each other all week, but did not believe it was loaded.
Two teens are being held at a youth detention center while the investigation continues, police said. They have each been charged with involuntary manslaughter, burglary and pointing a gun at another person. Source: AJC
This is a sad turn of events and should not have happened. Kids and guns are a deadly combination. I hope the police will be able to get to the bottom of this mess. Why in the world were these children in this home without adult supervision? A
Facebook page has been set up in his honor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Brian Keith Comer.
