First Lady Michelle Obama invites rapper Common to White House event, conservatives upset over poem he recited years ago in which they said he called for burning President George W. Bush.
The White House and rapper Common are under fire for a controversial poem, "A Letter to the Law," he recited a few years ago in which he is accused for calling for former President George W. Bush to be burned. I never heard this poem before, but I have largely liked his music. The more conscious songs, that is.Politics is a dirty business. Has anyone bothered to take a look at what Common has done for inner city youths? I think it's safe to say the folks over at the Daily Caller, led by Tucker Carlson couldn't give one hoot about black kids living in the projects of Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago or any other city for that matter. This is coming from the same guy who said Michael Vick deserves to die for dogfighting charges, though he served his time and paid his debt to society. I thought he would understand how it felt to be called un-American for his comments. Of course, it's okay because it came from the self-righteous conservative. Another reason why I cannot possibly waste my time to give some of these Republican candidates for presidency the time of day. Too bloody self-righteous. Context is everything. There were people calling for heinous things to happen to George Bush for invading Iraq and Afghanistan.
Watch for yourself and judge if the poem is controversial:
Here's an excerpt from the "controversial" poem:
Use your mind and nine-power, get the government touch
Them boys chat-chat on how him pop gun
I got the black strap to make the cops run
With that happening, why they messing with Saddam?
Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button
Killing over oil and grease
no weapons of destruction
How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one
The government’s a g-unit and they might buck young black people
Black people In the urban area one
I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun.
Peace, ya’ll.”
