Souderton PA Police find Body of 9 YO Skyler Kauffman Stuffed in Bin, Neighbor James Lee Troutman Charged with Murder, Other Offenses

James Lee Troutman charged with murder, rape & kidnapping of nine year old Skyler Kauffman, in Souderton, PA, five hours after mother reported her missing.

SHOCK: James Lee Troutman was charged with murder, kidnapping, rape and other offenses of nine year old Skyler Kauffman in Souderton, a suburb north of Philadelphia, Tuesday afternoon. Troutman told police he just snapped. I hope when the prosecutor just snaps and calls for the severest punishment that can be handed down in Pennsylvania his family won't object. The child's body was found five hours after her mother reported her missing Monday. She died of asphyxiation and blunt force trauma.

The 24-year-old became a suspect after a detective searching the building spotted what appeared to be blood on his trainers, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said. The detective then searched his apartment and allegedly found bloody clothes in a wardrobe and a pool of blood in the basement of the complex.

The child's body was later found wrapped in a blanket in a rubbish bin in the car park at the back of the block of flats.

Troutman eventually admitted he strangled the girl with his hands and her head his the basement floor 'a couple of times at least' according to the criminal complaint. Source

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Skyler Kauffman's family. This shouldn't have happened. It is disturbing on so many levels. I can see the defense shaping up to diminished mental capacity or the insanity plea in this case. He knew exactly what he was doing.
