Two Miami Sergeants, Robert Laurenceau & Orlando Villaverde Injured, After Drunk Driver Hits Police Car

Miami woman, Mary Lindsay charged with DUI after crashing into police car and injuring sergeants Robert G. Laurenceau and Orlando R. Villaverde.

When will people learn that driving under the influence can have deadly consequences? According to the Sun Sentinel, Miami police Sgts. Robert G. Laurenceau and Orlando R. Villaverde were in the midst of a police perimeter set-up to search for a robbery suspect, when Mary C. Lindsay, 61, struck them and crashed into the police vehicle they were standing next to early Sunday morning.

Lindsay was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury, DUI property damage and DUI careless driving. Sgt. Laurenceau, reportedly suffered head and spinal-cord injuries, while Sgt. Villaverde suffered a broken clavicle and ribs. Both men are listed in stable condition, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Until the sentences handed down to people driving under the influence get stricter, you will always have those willing to get behind the wheel drunk, do just that. There should be zero tolerance to DUI. Far too many people have lost their lives, including many children, at the hands of a drunk driver.
