Gerardo Regalado goes on shooting rampage at Hialeah, Fla., restaurant, killing four women and injuring three others, before committing suicide.
Gerardo Regalado of Coral Gables, Fla., went on a murderous rampage at the Yoyito Restaurant in Hialeah Sunday night, killing four women and wounding three others, before committing suicide. Police have identified the dead as Liazan Molina, 24; Maysel Figueroa, 32; Lavina M. Fonseca, 47 and Zaida Castillo, 56. According to the
Miami Herald, the injured have been identified as Mayra Delacaridad, Ivet Coronado Fernandez and Yasmine Dominguez.
The shooting spree began with an argument between Regalado and Molina, apparently his girlfriend, in the parking lot. The man drew a .45-caliber pistol, shot Molina and then entered the restaurant ``like a wild man, with a gun in hand, and began shooting indiscriminately,'' said Eduardo Rodriguez, who works at the restaurant and said the details were given to him by others who were dining at the time. Evidence suggests Regalado specifically targeted women, as there were at least two men in the restaurant, but neither was shot. Regalado was found a few blocks away -- at 350 E. 45th St. -- of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot from the same weapon he used to take four lives, police said. Source: Miami Herald
This is a reprehensible act of violence and I am sorry Gerardo Regalado took the easy way out instead of being brought to justice for the deaths of these women, as well as the attempted murder of the three injured women.
