AZ State Sen. Russell Pearce Wants Legislation Denying Citizenship to Children Born in US to Illegal Parents

Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce wants to deny children born in Arizona to parents who are illegal immigrants, their U.S. citizenship and force them to pay public school tuition.

Arizona State Sen. Russell Pearce wants the state to target the children of illegal immigrants in his state. According to the Arizona Capitol Times, he is looking to draft legislation that would keep the children born in the United States to parents who are illegal immigrants, from becoming citizens, as well as forcing them to pay tuition to attend public schools. So, if we go down that treacherous slope of snatching citizenship from natural born U.S. citizens, shouldn't this be retroactive to the early settlers who entered the United States illegally and stole land from the Indians? Let's be real, this legislation is directed at Hispanic illegal immigrants.

The proposals, which Pearce said he plans to introduce as legislation next year, are part of a coordinated strategy by Pearce and groups such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) to remove all incentives for illegal immigrants to live in the U.S.

“My issue is protecting the taxpayers. You can’t come here illegally and not be a legal resident and expect the taxpayers to pick up your tab,” Pearce said. Critics, though, said revoking citizenship to people born in the U.S. would undermine the principles on which the nation was founded and redefine citizenship for far more people than Pearce may be envisioning. It may even create a set of people who lack citizenship of any country.

Requiring children to prove citizenship to attend public school, they said, would create a permanent lower class of uneducated residents who would be unable to sustain themselves or contribute to their communities. Source: Arizona Capitol Times
I am against illegal immigration, but those children born in the U.S. to parents who are illegal immigrants shouldn't have their citizenship jeopardized. Sorry, this amounts to a racist act against Hispanics. The reality is that some Republican politicians are only too happy to restrict the civil rights of others to further their political ambitions.
