Actor/Activist Pierce Brosnan Takes President Obama to Task Over his Broken Campaign Pledge to End Whale Slaughter

Actor/activist Pierce Brosnan tapes new PSA against whaling and takes President Obama to task for breaking 2008 campaign pledge.

President Barack Obama is coming under fire for breaking one of his campaign promises to end the slaughter of whales. As you know, environmentalists are already ticked off with his administration's handling of the BP Gulf oil spill.  According to Fox News, the administration is leading an effort within the International Whaling Commission to life a 24-year international ban on commercial whaling in Japan, Norway and Iceland. The Obama administration is making the argument that the new deal will save thousands of whales over the next decade by stopping the three countries from illegally exploiting loopholes in the moratorium.

Actor Pierce Brosnan, of James Bond fame, has taped a new PSA for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, specifically taking President Obama to task on his broken campaign pledge. The PSA, "Mr. President" is a co-production between Beef Films and environmental advocate Keely Shaye Brosnan. He  calls on President Obama to stay true to his 2008 pledge to "ensure the U.S. provides leadership in enforcing wildlife protection agreements, including strengthening the international ban on commercial whaling." He spoke directly to the President, telling him that "whales face more threats today than ever before." That would include pollution, whalers and climate change.
