Pat Hingle, Who Played Commissioner Gordon in Four Batman Movies Has Died, He was 84

Batman fans will know exactly who Pat Hingle is. He played Commissioner Gordon in four Batman movies from 1989 to 1997. Hingle, 84, has passed away.

Family friend Michele Seidman says Hingle died at his home in Carolina Beach shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. Seidman says he decided to settle in the coastal town after shooting the movie "Maximum Overdrive" in the area in 1986. He lived there for more than 15 years [and] had battled multiple health problems over the last several years.

Hingle was cognizant of his role in Batman and Gordon's role in Batman's life. He remarked on it a bit here. His face will always be recognized as part of the Caped Crusader family, but the Tony Award-nominated actor had a lot more to offer the entertainment world. Source: LA Times

His passing comes on the heels of another Batman alum Eartha Kitt, who died on Christmas Day.
